Who we are
We started Kento Health to revolutionize healthcare for people living with cardiovascular disease. Our goal is to empower patients to take control of their heart health while giving healthcare professionals the tools to deliver continuous, personalized care. For our employees, Kento Health is more than a job; it’s an opportunity to make a real difference in healthcare. We believe in supporting your growth and development by creating an environment that fosters collaboration, innovation, and learning.
We are more than a fast-paced, high-growth health tech company; we care deeply about our people and are committed to helping them unlock their full potential. Whether you're a developer, engineer, or clinician, you'll find meaningful work that positively impacts millions of lives.
About the Role
We are looking for a Platform Engineer to join our growing team! As a Platform Engineer at Kento Health, you will take on significant responsibility for our AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and system architecture. This is a hands-on role where you'll work on the platform that powers our AI-powered cardiac care solution, ensuring it's scalable, reliable, and secure.
In this role, you will have significant ownership over our cloud infrastructure, building and optimizing our deployment pipelines, managing our AWS services, and ensuring our platform can scale with our rapid growth. You'll work closely with our small and nimble engineering team to design and implement infrastructure solutions, with occasional backend work to support platform needs. Your work will directly enable us to deliver continuous, personalized care to patients living with cardiovascular disease.
Key Challenges
- Infrastructure Ownership: You'll be a key infrastructure expert on the team with significant autonomy over AWS infrastructure, CI/CD, monitoring, security, and scalability decisions. This is hands-on engineering—no consultants, no delegating. You build it, you run it.
- Startup Environment: We're a small, nimble team in a fast-growing health tech company. You'll thrive in ambiguity, make decisions quickly, and wear multiple hats. We need someone with a startup mentality who can move fast and adapt constantly.
- Fast-Paced Scaling: You'll be scaling systems to support thousands of users while managing costs, ensuring reliability, and maintaining security compliance in a regulated healthcare environment. Every decision you make will directly impact patient care.
- Full-Stack Infrastructure: From CI/CD pipelines to AWS architecture, from monitoring and alerting to disaster recovery—you'll have significant responsibility across the entire infrastructure stack. We need someone who can see the big picture while also diving deep into technical details when needed.
Requirements (Must have)
- Must hold a valid work permit and be located in Canada (Québec preferred)
- Must be able to travel to Montreal 3-4 times per year.
- 5+ years of professional experience in infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering (or 3+ years with exceptional high-value experience in these areas).
- Deep AWS expertise across multiple services—you should be able to architect, implement, and optimize AWS infrastructure independently.
- Strong experience building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar).
- Experience with cost optimization and managing cloud infrastructure budgets.
- Security best practices and compliance experience, ideally in healthcare or other regulated industries.
- Experience with serverless technologies
- Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, RDS, etc.).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, debug, and solve complex infrastructure issues under pressure.
- Startup experience strongly preferred—you should thrive in fast-paced, high-ownership environments.
- Ability to work independently and self-sufficiently in a remote environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a small, multidisciplinary team.
Bonus (Nice to have)
- Python or Java experience for backend scripting and tooling.
- Kubernetes/EKS experience.
- Experience with MLOps pipelines and infrastructure.
- Experience or interest with LLM infrastructure and deployment.
- Prior experience in healthcare or other regulated industries.
