About this opportunity:

Cenovus’ Atlantic Region is seeking a Senior Process Engineer the St. John’s, NL office. This role supports the development and maintenance of procedures and work instructions while collaborating closely with teams across Subsea Operations, Engineering, Subsurface, Maintenance, West White Rose Operational Readiness, Assurance, and Developments.

This role also provides the opportunity to contribute to or take ownership of innovative systems and initiatives, including the Asset Condition Monitoring Dashboard, along with other projects that reflect Cenovus’ commitment to continuous improvement.

This position is located at our St. John, NL office.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with the Reliability Engineer to drive equipment reliability and process optimization.

  • Lead engineering investigations and manage change initiatives to improve process performance and equipment integrity.

  • Act as the onshore system coordinator for assigned process and utility systems.

  • Provide process engineering support to coordinators across turret, topsides, and marine systems.

  • Maintain the integrity of key process safety and design documentation, including P&IDs, Alarm & Trip Registers, and input to ESD Cause & Effects.

  • Participate in and support risk management activities, including PHAs, HAZOPs, SCE reviews, and other safety assessments.

  • Review, resolve, and close out ANRAS and NOPRAS items related to process and utility systems.

  • Support production engineering through ad hoc process analysis, optimization, and troubleshooting of subsea and topsides flow assurance issues.

  • Contribute to alarm and trip management, chemical optimization, environmental performance, and related contract support

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Bachelor’s degree in Process, Chemical, Petroleum and/or Oil & Gas Engineering.

  • A member in good standing or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers and Geoscientist Newfoundland & Laboratory (PEGNL)

  • Minimum of eight years of relevant experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.

  • Solid understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.

  • Experience with production and process equipment and systems on oil and gas installations.

  • Working knowledge of Management of Change (MOC) processes.

  • Experience with HYSYS and AspenTech Process Explorer is considered an asset.

  • Familiarity with ASME and API codes and standards is considered an asset.

  • Exposure to subsea facilities and well operations, including interventions, completions, and workovers, is an asset

This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to offshore pre-placement Fitness for Work assessments, which includes drug and alcohol screening, a CAPP medical and BST/HUEBA testing.

You must be able to travel via helicopter and boat. This position requires the successful candidate travel offshore, there you will be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance and obtain all required training necessary for offshore travel.
