Role Summary
We are hiring a Product Manager for Cloudflare Tunnel. Cloudflare Tunnel easily and securely connects our customers' infrastructure to the Cloudflare Global Network. Today, there are a half a million active Tunnels deployed across hundreds of thousands of our customer's accounts.
Our connector is also flexible enough to support a variety of use cases whether that be connecting a local HTTP server, web services served by a Kubernetes cluster, or an entire private network segment to Cloudflare. The goal of our connector is not just to create software that is reliable and performant for administrators, but something that is also ridiculously easy to use by any individual around the world.
In this role you will shape the product, working closely with the development team and other functions across Cloudflare, to listen to customer problems and devise solutions that solve them. You will work to ensure the connector, which has been deployed on millions of networks, is simple, secure, and performant for all use cases. You will solve problems that have wide impact and significance, shaping the future of connectivity on the Internet.
We operate with small teams of highly motivated and experienced engineers and product professionals. You will need an understanding of networking and, what deployment of software looks like in all sizes of companies and the ability to help customers troubleshoot complex deployment issues. As a product that has low level network interactions with all parts of the enterprise stack, candidates will need both technical depth, and empathy and understanding to work with customers of all levels of sophistication.
Role Responsibilities
As a member of the growing team of product managers your responsibilities include:

  • Own the product vision for your area. Ensure that it aligns with the overall product and company vision.
  • Represent the customer. Be the champion and voice of customers. Build intimate, personal customer relationships. Bring the customer's voice into the creation process.
  • Manage the roadmap. Make tough tactical prioritization decisions while helping the company think long-term. Build trust with stakeholders by maintaining an understandable, accurate roadmap.
  • Author use cases and prioritize requirements. Translate market observations and customer feedback into a prioritized product backlog. Author use cases based on specific real-world product applications and extrapolate detailed product requirements for the scenarios.
  • Collaborate across teams. We win or lose as a team. Product managers play a critical role in creating alignment between engineering teams and other stakeholders. A collaborative attitude is essential to the job.
  • Measure success. Own the measures used to define success for your product. Success measures must be defined at the inception of a product and tracked throughout its lifecycle. Make measures visible to all stakeholders and interpret them into actionable conclusions and new hypotheses.
  • Develop new opportunities. With your finger on the pulse of the market, the customers and the engineering teams, you are uniquely positioned to bring new products to market that solve real customer problems.

Role Requirements
Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in product management working alongside engineering, sales engineering, and design teams
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, drive consensus and deliver in an organization with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to to support customers in all phases: pre-sales, piloting and post sales support
  • Working knowledge of VPNs, Routing, DNS, Firewalls, Client/Server architectures is required
  • Exceptional empathy, curiosity, attention to detail, and problem solving abilities


Bonus points if you also have:

  • Working knowledge of how the Internet works at network layers 3 through 7.
  • Hands-on experience with command-line tools used for interacting with APIs, debugging and testing (e.g. curl, dig, etc.)
  • Domain expertise (e.g. as a practitioner or technology provider) in several of: HTTP content delivery, network performance, browser technologies and Internet security.
  • A solid understanding of RESTful API design & documentation.
  • Pricing strategy and revenue forecasting experience.
  • BS/MS in computer science or engineering
