ABOUT THIS ROLE

Apex Fintech Solutions is seeking a Senior Product Manager (Market Data) to own the strategy, execution, and success of our market data product suite. This is a high visibility, high-impact role where you will define the vision, roadmap, and execution plan for delivering API-first, compliant, and cost-effective market data solutions to our clients. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, legal, compliance, finance, and external vendors to ensure our platform remains industry leading.

We are seeking someone to be based in either Austin, TX or Chicago, IL.
Duties/Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the strategy, vision, and roadmap for market data products, with a focus on five key areas

  • (1) Develop Redistribution Product Portfolio and Business Case: Evaluate the strategic needs of our clients and prioritize content by demand. Lead competitive analysis of competitor product sets and data vendors, including pricing, to create initial business case for opportunity vs. investment, establishing IRR (via finance).

  • (2) Create an Auditability Framework: As part of the Business Case, develop a coarse-grain design for redistribution auditability, including operational requirements and tooling.

  • (3) Market Data API: Lead the design, development, and rollout of Apex’s public-facing Market Data APIs. Collaborate with engineers and product teams to deliver high-performance API and ensure robust testing and documentation.   Work with Product Marketing on public-facing product collateral.

  • (4) Vendor Contract Management: Manage contracts with market data vendors, ensuring optimal coverage for all business units while realizing cost savings. Work with stakeholders to analyze gaps and negotiate streamlined agreements.

  • (5) Data Licensing: Manage contracts with exchanges for market data usage. Partner with compliance and legal teams to ensure Apex meets all regulatory and licensing requirements.

  • Work cross-functionally to prioritize requirements, solve product gaps, and document detailed product plans, including PR-FAQs and technical specifications.

  • Author and maintain product documentation, and be accountable for the functional and financial success of the market data products.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience) required; Master’s degree in business, finance, or technology preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management or related roles, with direct experience in API design, ideally with exposure to financial market data; however, candidates with strong technical and product management experience seeking to expand their expertise into the market data domain are also encouraged to apply.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Experience with market data, API design, and collaborating closely with engineering and product teams.

  • Experience in documenting roadmaps, outcomes, and data flows – for both engineering and business partner consumption.

  • Experience with product finance (profit/loss, adoption) and GTM strategy (competitor analysis, market segmentation)

Familiarity with financial markets (equities, options, futures, fixed income).

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills (SQL, Postman).

  • Solid track record managing the full lifecycle of product development, preferably within SaaS or cloud-based environments.

  • Agile product development experience (using Confluence/Jira) and the ability to drive change and influence without direct authority.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS)

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with minimal oversight

Nice to Haves:

  • Prior software development experience and/or knowledge of object oriented programming

  • Prior experience designing/developing libraries/SDKs

  • Experience with microservices (Kafka, Kubernetes)
