About Showpass

At Showpass, we’re reigniting the joy of live experiences. From massive stadium concerts to local festivals, our mission is to empower event organizers with the tools they need to elevate the fan experience. We believe great events create lasting memories—and we’re building the platform that makes those moments possible.

Why This Role Exists

We’re looking for a Senior QA Engineer who wants to do more than chase bugs. You’ll help build the QA function into a scalable, high-impact pillar of our product development process. You’ll bring automation expertise, strong testing instincts, and a strategic mindset to help shape how we test, what we test, and how fast we can ship. You won’t be a cog in the release machine, you’ll be a core contributor to how Showpass scales quality across a large, fast-moving platform.

Title: Senior QA Engineer

Location: Calgary, AB

What You’ll Do:

  • Define, write, and maintain end-to-end test cases for major product features using Playwright, Qase, and GitHub CI
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and developers in six-week cycles, participating in planning and daily standups
  • Help migrate and re-architect our existing Cypress test suite into a clean, maintainable Playwright foundation
  • Take ownership of manual regression testing during releases while actively converting key paths into automated tests
  • Proactively build tools, seeding scripts, mocks, or stubs to improve test setup and environment parity, with the support and space to do it right
  • Contribute to our QA documentation and lead internal best practices for reliability and performance
  • Help uplift quality standards across teams and mentor others on testing mindset and strategies

What You’ll Walk Into:

  • A modern stack: Playwright, Qase, GitHub Actions, and a clean staging environment
  • A supportive team with real context: QA reports into Product to stay closely aligned with real-world usage and outcomes, while collaborating tightly with Dev from day one
  • Direct support from the Director of Product (a former developer) and Engineering team
  • We’ve set a goal of 50%+ automation coverage by October and are investing in the right people, tools, and workflows to get there
  • A real seat at the table: you’ll help shape QA strategy, tooling, and process from the ground up

What We’re Looking For:

  • 7+ years in QA, automation, or software testing roles
  • Strong Playwright or equivalent framework experience
  • Fluent in writing clean, reusable tests and working within CI/CD environments
  • Familiarity with page object model architecture, parameterized test design, and browser-based testing edge cases
  • Comfortable doing both manual and automated testing, especially for exploratory or edge-case flows
  • Collaborative, proactive, and opinionated about quality, but not rigid

What You’re Like:

  • You’re proactive and resourceful. You don’t wait for a task list, you take initiative, ask the right questions, and push things forward to completion. Then onto the next.
  • You take pride in quality. You believe the little things matter, and you care about building things that are reliable, maintainable, and thoughtful.
  • You manage your time effectively. You know how to prioritize, stay organized, and follow through, especially when others are counting on you.
  • You value clear, honest communication. You’re open to feedback, comfortable speaking up, and appreciate when others are direct and constructive too.
  • You care about the craft. Whether writing automation scripts or planning test coverage, you aim to do your best work and continuously improve.
  • You show up like it matters. Because it does, to your teammates, to our clients, and to the hundreds of thousands of people who use Showpass every day.

Bonus If You Have:

  • Experience migrating legacy test suites into modern frameworks
  • Familiarity with Showpass-like domains: ticketing, e-commerce, or SaaS platforms
  • An eye for improving test speed, reliability, and reducing flaky test debt
  • Confidence to challenge assumptions, even when it means slowing down to get it right

Why You Should Apply:

  • You’ll have a real say in how testing evolves across the platform
  • You’ll be part of rebuilding something with long-term impact, not patching up a legacy system
  • You’ll work with leadership that values quality and backs it up with action
  • You’ll get the autonomy and support to make good work possible
