We are seeking an experienced Senior Royalty Analyst to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the Team Lead, Royalties, the Senior Royalty Analyst is responsible for Alberta Oil Sands Royalty (OSR) and Saskatchewan EOR accounting and reporting.

This role leverages strong operational and financial expertise to support accurate royalty calculations, cost analysis, regulatory reporting, and overall administration of royalty projects. The role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with Crown royalty requirements while delivering timely and reliable reporting.

The successful candidate will partner closely with Finance, Operations, and Development teams, contributing in a highly collaborative environment focused on process improvement, critical thinking, and building deep expertise in royalty regulations across multiple jurisdictions to drive business value.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and submit monthly Good Faith Estimate (GFE) filings to the Alberta Department of Energy

  • Prepare monthly royalty accruals for OSR and EOR projects, including detailed variance analysis

  • Complete annual End of Period Statements (EOPS) for Oil Sands royalty reporting to the Alberta Crown

  • Complete quarterly and annual EOR Operator’s Returns in compliance with Saskatchewan Crown royalty requirements

  • Prepare annual Cost Analysis and Reporting Enhancement (C.A.R.E.) submissions and other regulatory filings as required by the Alberta Department of Energy

  • Support audit requests related to royalty projects

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Capital, and Operations Accounting teams to ensure accurate royalty payable and cost reporting

  • Research and interpret applicable legislation, guidelines, and industry publications related to OSR and EOR

  • Identify, promote, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance would be considered an asset.

  • Minimum of 10+ years of Oil and Gas royalty accounting experience

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and experience working with large datasets

  • Working knowledge of SAGD operations, Alberta Oil Sands Royalty regulations, and Saskatchewan Crown royalty frameworks

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a continuous improvement mindset

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment

  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal), with the ability to effectively manage internal and external relationships

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements
