About the Role

WHAT YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

  • Provide guidance and act as subject matter expert on Alberta settlement transactions as outlined in the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) Rules 021: Settlement System Code and Rule 004: Alberta Tariff Billing Code.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of settlement activities for the purposes of interpreting and applying contractual obligations as they apply to financial payments and penalties and maintain an awareness of industry developments in settlement technologies and practices.
  • Provide training on settlement operations to team members and external clients.
  • Assist project team with onboarding procedures for new Retailer and Self Retail clients.
  • Perform settlement functions across a suite of multi-jurisdictional clients. Using checks and validations to ensure all settlement and billing outputs are generated as expected.
  • Perform reconciliations to ensure all settlement and billing transactions have been invoiced as expected.
  • Monitor market transactions for successful file load. Complete root cause analysis for transaction failures.
  • Review transactional discrepancies and problem solve complex and unexpected issues.
  • Reporting and troubleshooting system issues, working with team to test and implement fixes.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements, coordinating, documenting, and assisting with the implementation of changes.
  • Review settlement processes and supply evidence to external auditors.
  • Evaluate and respond to internal and external client requests.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Settlement Analyst within the Alberta Electricity Market.

Preferred Skills

  • Educational Foundation: A university degree or diploma in a relevant field, providing a solid academic base for advanced analytical work.
  • Sector Experience: Direct experience in the de-regulated retail energy or utilities sector, offering a nuanced understanding of industry-specific challenges and opportunities.

Pay range

Salary: 75-85K based on experience.
