Overview

Join our Platform Engineering Team at Qualified as a Senior Platform Engineer and play a pivotal role in constructing and maintaining the critical systems that form the backbone of our operations. Our team is responsible for developing scalable, high-performance backend systems foundational to our product's functionality. Your goal will be to ensure these systems are robust, secure, and capable of supporting complex, real-time interactions with our customers, while maintaining high standards of reliability and performance.

This is a technical role with high impact where you will drive the evolution of our engineering practices and architectural standards. You will provide technical guidance and mentor other developers to foster a culture of excellence within the organization. Beyond code, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners to ideate and execute platform initiatives that solve complex problems. Earning customer trust is paramount; therefore, you will focus on delivering business-critical solutions that directly contribute to our customers' success and ROI

What You'll Do

  • Construct and maintain the critical systems that form the backbone of our operations.

  • Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems foundational to our product's functionality.

  • Continuously improve system performance, identify bottlenecks, and deploy optimizations for smooth operation at scale.

  • Support and scale highly-available, highly-trafficked services essential for our customers' time-sensitive, business-critical needs.

  • Evaluate new technologies and introduce new subsystems as the footprint and complexity of our product grows.

  • Uphold high standards of quality through best practices in coding, testing, deployment, and proactive system health monitoring.

  • Mentor other engineers, help build our team's culture, and set standards for engineering excellence.

  • Embrace a culture of flexibility and efficiency, moving fast to capture the huge opportunity before us.

What We're Looking For

  • Expert-level proficiency in AI-assisted software development (e.g., Claude, Cursor, etc); you are capable of leveraging these tools to significantly accelerate your output from day one.

  • 5+ years of experience in professional full-stack or backend software development.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Ruby on Rails, Python, or Go.

  • Proven experience working with backend programming languages and familiarity with SQL, RDBMS (PostgreSQL preferred), and data warehousing solutions.

  • Experience with deploying and monitoring code on cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

  • Strong software engineering practices (e.g. coding, unit testing, code reviews, design documentation).

  • Strong debugging skills and experience solving complex technical problems.

  • Experience in leading large-scale projects while guiding and mentoring other developers.

  • A commitment to quality, demonstrated by rigorous testing and code review practices.

  • B.S. or higher in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience).
