The Role
The Audiences Web team builds buyer-facing and logged-in seller-facing experiences for our Retail, Food and Beverage, Services, and Health and Beauty sellers. We own experiences from simple settings pages to complex dashboards to interactive calendars and more. We are looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to report to the Audiences Web Engineering Lead and support the five teams and nearly fifty engineers in this organization.
You Will
- Define and drive the architectural vision for our web applications, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Lead technical decision-making across teams, influencing the broader engineering organization with web best practices and innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with and influence peers across functions and teams.
- Mentor engineers at all levels, promoting a culture of learning, innovation, and growth.
- Champion engineering excellence, including code quality, security, accessibility, and performance optimizations.
- Spearhead initiatives to modernize our front-end stack, introducing new technologies where necessary while ensuring stability.
- Contribute hands-on to our codebase, setting high standards for clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
- Foster a culture of inclusion and psychological safety on the team.
You Have
- 12+ years professional experience in web development, including multiple years of experience working in React (and ideally experience supporting teams moving to React).
- Multiple years experience as a Tech Lead, and ideally at least one year of experience as a tech lead reporting to a manager-of-managers.
- A proven track record of leading large-scale web engineering projects and making strategic technical decisions.
- Strong experience with web performance optimization, accessibility standards, and responsive design.
- Experience designing and implementing front-end architecture for complex, high-traffic applications.
- A history of mentoring and growing engineers, providing guidance on technical decisions and career development.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
