As a Senior Sustainability Manager, Workiva Carbon, you’ll serve as the lead subject matter expert driving the development of Workiva’s carbon management platform. This role leads the team of climate practitioners responsible for conceptualizing the platform’s emissions calculation, reporting, analytics, and decarbonization functionality, including identifying key datasets, defining calculation logic, and harmonizing metrics across mandated and voluntary disclosures. 

You’ll report to the Carbon Head of Product and work closely with a diverse group of stakeholders from both the technical production and commercial teams, including engineering, design, marketing, pre-sales, and post-sales.
 

What You’ll Do

  • Direct, scope, and manage the work of the sustainability practitioner team, driving the key functionality of platform features and fostering a collaborative and innovative environment

  • Identify key datasets for effective carbon accounting and decarbonization planning across a global application 

  • Conceptualize and define carbon feature functionality in collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring that features align with industry standards and regional mandates

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the carbon management platform, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement

  • Serve as primary carbon domain expert, representing platform functionality during feature development as well throughout internal enablement of customer-facing teams and external markets as necessary

  • Engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, industry groups, and standard setters and reporting organizations (e.g. GHG Protocol, SBTi, CDP, ISSB IFRS) to ensure platform compliance and relevance to key market drivers

What You’ll Need 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • 7-10 years experience in carbon management with applied experience developing audit-ready organizational emissions inventories for large enterprises across a diverse range of sectors and geographies, particularly in North America and EMEA

  • Minimum 3 years direct people management experience

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Applied experience in carbon reduction planning, establishing SBT’s, scenario analysis and emissions forecasting models for large enterprise

  • Applied experience developing product carbon footprints and/or Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)  

  • Expert familiarity with carbon accounting and decarbonization standards such as the GHG Protocol Corporate and Scope 3 Value Chain Standards and SBTi Corporate Net Zero Standard, including sector-specific guidance (e.g., PCAF, FLAG, and hard-to-abate sectors)

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and transform complex standards and datasets into productized functionality 

  • Experience with data integrations and configuring software 

  • Experience in one or more data tools beyond Excel preferred, e.g. R, Tableau, Power BI

Travel Requirements & Working Conditions

  • 20% travel for customer and internal meetings 

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office

How You’ll Be Rewarded

✅ Salary range in the US: $151,000.00 - $242,000.00

✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

✅ 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and other relevant factors.
