Leads the Canadian tax function, overseeing corporate income tax compliance, filings, provisions under ASC 740, indirect tax strategy, CRA audits, tax planning, and cross-border matters. Advises senior leadership and business units, ensures regulatory compliance, identifies process improvements, and manages relationships with internal teams, tax authorities, and external advisors.
The Senior Tax Manager will lead all aspects of the Company's Canadian tax function including compliance, accounting, reporting, planning, and audit management. Partners with business units, Finance, Treasury, Legal, and Operations to ensure regulatory compliance, drive tax efficiency, and support growth across Canadian operations. This role reports to the VP of Tax, North America.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all Canadian corporate income tax compliance, filings, and payments
- Manage quarterly and annual tax provisions for Canadian entities in accordance with ASC 740
- Lead and manage CRA tax audits and represent the Company with tax authorities
- Provide strategic tax advisory to senior management on operational, commercial, and strategic initiatives
- Advise business units on tax, compliance, finance, treasury, and accounting matters
- Identify process improvements and tax planning opportunities in collaboration with internal teams and external advisors
- Lead indirect tax strategy and address CRA questions across all Canadian operations
- Partner with US management on cross-border tax matters and multinational tax issues
- CPA designation required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of progressive corporate tax or public accounting experience, including tax leadership
- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian corporate income and indirect tax
- Proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilities
- Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills
- Experience in a multinational or private equity-owned environment preferred
