Job Summary: We are seeking a Senior Technical Director to provide technical direction for an existing government contract research program that conducts long-term quantitative and qualitative research and analysis of foreign national security issues. The position will start with a period of learning in collaboration with the current Senior Technical Director, with responsibilities fully transferring over time. This role involves:

  • Learning the assessment methods and knowledge base developed within the program.

  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis.

  • Performing individual research and analysis of complex national security issues.

  • Leveraging a military background with experience in the Asian-Pacific region and expertise in developing research and analysis supporting defense policy, strategy, and operational issues for the US government.

A critical requirement is the ability to immediately contribute to the preparation and delivery of technical analytical products to US government personnel. The position also necessitates working closely with the Senior Program Manager to ensure synergy between the program and technical sides.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership for a multidisciplinary research team, including:

    • Selecting, collecting, and vetting source materials.

    • Translating foreign language materials.

    • Tasking work to team members.

    • Producing technical reports, papers, and briefings.

    • Preparing and delivering seminars based on the program's knowledge base.

  • Conduct individual technical research and analysis; prepare briefings, papers, and technical reports; brief DoD and IC customers on research findings.

  • Teach and mentor team members on technical and operational aspects of research methods.

  • Engage in flexible, interactive communication with the research team focused on topical areas, research direction, and content of written reports.

  • Interact routinely with government personnel at all levels in meetings and seminars to help grow the body of knowledge for the US government based on program outputs.

  • Work closely with the Senior Program Manager on issues that cross over program and technical management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a Cyber , IT , Information Operations or similar discipline is required.

  • 20+ years of service in or supporting the military and USG.

  • Current Top Secret SCI Security Clearance.

  • Strong technical-analytic skills and experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis of national defense issues.

  • Experience leading and directing technical-research teams in analyzing regional security situations and supporting DoD or IC.

  • Ability to assist in developing DoD strategy, policy, force development, and operational requirements, interfacing with senior military and civilian leadership within the DoD.

  • Ability to conduct business development through substantive interactions with government agencies.

  • Experience with government procurement and contract procedures for small contracts and task order acquisitions.

  • Excellent analytic, research, writing, and oral presentation skills.

Pay Range:Pay Range $134,550.00 - $243,225.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
