Role Summary
As a Cyber Threat Hunter part of our Managed Detection& Response (MDR) Team, you will leverage your experience, expertise, and cybersecurity knowledge of adversary behaviors to identify activity that may have bypassed detections. The role will require knowledge of all scopes of threat actor activity on the endpoint, including Windows, Linux and MacOS. Advanced knowledge of all aspects of process execution and understanding how attacks are chained together is critical. This position can be worked remotely in Canada.
What You Will Do
- Plan and independently execute proactive threat hunts across all MDR customers
- Thoroughly document threat hunt tickets to support metrics and reporting
- Understand existing in place detections to ensure threat hunts are relevant to addressing a gap
- Provide extensive details and feedback to detection teams to advance customer protection
- Keep abreast of and incorporate the latest internal and external intelligence into the hunt planning process
- Support ad-hoc and long-term projects as assigned my leadership to improve threat hunting processes and technical capabilities
- Act as a resource for more junior analysts requiring any support during an active incident
What You Will Bring
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Threat Hunter, Incident Response, or Detection Analyst.
- Experience analyzing operating system and application logs with the ability to separate normal baseline activity from suspicious activity requiring further analysis.
- Experience with developing complex search queries including use of SQL and RegEx.
- Knowledge of statistical techniques for uncovering anomalies in large data sets.
- Ability to apply creative and critical thinking when approaching issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, for delivery briefings to varied audiences of technical, operational, and senior client staff.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience providing oral and written briefings to executive leadership.
- Experience working closing with detection teams to create preventative or alerting rules.
- Cybersecurity certifications (preferred)
- BA or BS degree (preferred)
In Canada, the base salary for this role ranges from $107,000 to $179,000. In addition to base salary, we offer additional compensation including bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package. A candidate’s specific pay within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, training, location, experience, relevant education, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
