The Role
We’re looking for a Senior UX Designer with strong technical fluency to join our growing Calgary based team in a hybrid work model.
This is a role for a designer who understands how modern SaaS web applications are built, deployed, and secured — someone who can collaborate deeply with designers, product managers and engineers, talk comfortably with customers about their workflows, and design solutions that feel natural within real development environments.
You’ll shape end-to end experiences across the Black Duck platforms, from early discovery through delivery, while helping build a strong, collaborative design culture.

What You’ll Do
• Design intuitive, scalable user experiences for complex software security and development workflows
• Leverage AI (e.g. Figma Make) for rapid prototyping and ideation of new ideas
• Partner closely with product management and engineering throughout the product lifecycle
• Transform technical requirements into intuitive interface designs — for example, handling SBOM workflows, CI/CD integrations, and visualizing software security analysis results.
• Create storyboards, prototypes, and high fidelity designs that communicate intent and usability
• Contribute to and help evolve Black Duck’s design system and UX standards
• Partner with customers and stakeholders to uncover real-world use cases, user scenarios, and technical requirements, ensuring product decisions are grounded in authentic user needs
• Balance user needs with performance, scalability, and engineering constraints
• Present design rationale clearly and confidently to cross functional stakeholders
• Mentor and collaborate with other designers and contribute to a strong design culture within Black Duck

What You Bring
• 6+ years of UX design experience, ideally in enterprise, developer focused , or highly technical products
• Experience designing for developers, security engineers, or DevOps audiences
• Experience designing intuitive solutions for complex or technically demanding product areas
• Expertise with modern design and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma is our design platform)
• Preferably a strong understanding of SDLC concepts, tools and workflows, including:
o Version control systems (e.g., Git)
          o CI/CD pipelines
o Issue tracking and DevOps tooling
• Strong user-centred design principles, information architecture, and interaction design
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a hybrid environment

Nice to Have
• Experience with application security, open-source management, or software supply chain tools
• Experience designing data dense or workflow heavy interfaces
• Exposure to large scale design systems
• B2B SaaS or platform product experience

Why Black Duck
• Make an impact on products used by software teams around the world
• Collaborate with smart, highly technical peers in product, engineering, and security
• Be part of the growing Calgary product and engineering presence
• Hybrid flexibility that offers meaningful in-office collaboration and community events, paired with dedicated remote time for focused work.
• Competitive compensation, benefits, and clear opportunities for growth
Pay Range
$104,500$130,600 CAD
