LOCATION: Apply Digital is hybrid/remote friendly. The preferred candidate should be based in Canada, working in hours that align to PT or ET.


THE ROLE:


We are looking for a Senior UX Specialist who is passionate about transforming user insights into innovative digital experiences. This role is perfect for someone who excels in both the research and design aspect of experience. The position is ideal for someone who is good at solving complex problems with creative solutions and has a keen eye for detail. You will be at the heart of merging user needs with business goals and technical realities, crafting seamless experiences across various digital platforms.


As a Senior UX Specialist, you will play a pivotal role throughout the product lifecycle, collaborating closely with strategy, design, data, development, and product management teams. Your mission will be to ensure the user's perspective is a primary focus during planning, production, and post-launch phases. You will be instrumental in generating research insights, customer journeys, information architectures, and translating these into wireframes and prototypes that clearly communicate design intentions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead user research activities including interviews, surveys, workshops, and usability testing to gather early-stage product insights.
  • Translate customer requirements into compelling user-centered design solutions.
  • Develop and maintain customer journeys and user personas.
  • Craft architectural diagrams, process flows, wireframes, and prototypes to facilitate design and development.
  • Collaborate with product and development teams to navigate technical constraints when designing for various channels or platforms.
  • Champion the user's perspective throughout the product development process. This involves presenting research findings to stakeholders and advocating for design decisions that prioritize the user experience.
  • Stay abreast of the latest UX trends, tools, and methods, particularly in responsive mobile website and app design.
  • Analyze and recommend process improvements to enhance the team's efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support project teams throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring user needs are addressed.
  • Articulate complex design ideas to project teams and clients using concept sketches and wireframes, incorporating stakeholder feedback.
  • Facilitate UX workshops to drive ideation and understanding.
  • Create visual presentations for both clients and internal briefings.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members, while fostering a culture of curiosity and continuous learning.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in UX design, product design, information architecture, or a similar role, with at least 3 years focused on UX research.
  • Prior consultancy or agency experience is preferred. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in information architecture and interaction design patterns for mobile and responsive web.
  • Proven experience conducting user interviews, usability testing, and journey workshops to inform design decisions.
  • Proficiency with Figma or similar design and prototyping tools.
  • Familiarity with user-centered design techniques; experience with design sprints & team-based concepting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, client relations, and team collaboration skills.
  • Strong writing, creative thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • A proactive self-starter who is comfortable in a flexible, start-up environment.
  • A passion for digital strategy, products, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
