We are looking for a candidate who is ready for the Fastlane, eager to learn and contribute, willing to work and grow in one of the banks Premium IT Teams. This job will have you Leading SRE initiatives, Community of Practice & implementations in large scale Cloud Environment.

Job Description

  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • 50% for time will be development and the rest 50% will be application support
  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Provides input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  • Designs, develops, tests, implements and maintains computer/network systems developed internally and/or in conjunction with outside vendor.
  • Designs/engineers system-operating capacity (such as bandwidth, disk space, storage, and CPU utilization) to ensure high availability and performance of end-user applications and systems.
  • Ensures that infrastructure solutions are scalable, flexible, and supportable, are fully monitored and are as standardized and automated as possible.
  • Works across teams to ensure IT system, network upgrades and service pack deployments are implemented with minimal impact to production operation.
  • Accountable for overall system/technology performance; monitors production, outputs, and services to ensure that SLAs and other quality metrics are being met.
  • Identifies and defines new process and/or system improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluates and recommends emerging technologies to influence the design process.
  • Identifies opportunities to strengthen the capability of the technology organization at BMO, such as: sharing expertise to promote technical development, mentoring employees, building communities of practice and networks across technology.
  • Stays abreast of industry technical and business trends through participation in professional associations, practice communities & individual learning.
  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 3+ years experience in Technology (Software Development, Design, SRE, Application Support, Automation)
  • Technical hands-on SRE experience, working to automate operations and reduce toil
  • Working knowledge of L2/L3 Engineering Support
  • Experience using APM including Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, AppDynamics or similar & applying to SRE monitoring techniques (golden signals, USE & RED methodologies)
  • Advanced knowledge of at least 1 programming language (Node.js/Python/Java)
  • Experience with SRE concepts, tools and practices like chaos engineering, observability, SLA/SLI/SLOself-healing, error budgets, DR exercise, and tools like Dynatrace and ELK stack.
  • Experience with AWS technologies, such as: EC2, Lambda, ELB, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, KMS, VPC, Dynamo DB, RDS
  • Relevant IT infrastructure & platform knowledge in one or more of the following Engineering domains: networking, distributed/server, storage, mainframe, workplace technology, DR, RDBMS, Deployment
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with technology/solution design and configuration, capacity management, hardware fault diagnosis, impact of design decisions to infrastructure components, functional / technical behavior of middleware and data layers, virtualization, service design, Dev Ops and deployment environments and packaging and distribution of the application.

Salary:

$60,000.00 - $111,700.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
