The Team: Our Real-Time Data team is the part of our Technology team that delivers market data for millions of instruments traded in markets worldwide, representing a full range of asset classes. We supply this data both internally to Morningstar products and externally to clients, supporting the need for fast, reliable market information in a variety of formats and time intervals.
The Role: Morningstar Real-Time Data is seeking a software engineer to join our technology team in London. As part of a global team you will deliver capability into our real-time systems, providing business critical data to a global portfolio of blue chip clients. An enjoyable and demanding role where you will be able to not only deploy your skills across a wide and varied range of technical activities and tasks but also build on experiences gained from projects and the rest of the global team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in the full software development lifecycle, having been involved in specification, design and development and showing initiative to utilise not just their expert coding skills but also an ability to design and deliver reliable and robust software solutions.
Based in London it is a role that would enable the successful candidate to be part of a global team where quality and service are key drivers, supporting a portfolio of global real-time data products and services.
Responsibilities
  • Manage development projects through the whole project life cycle.
  • Data feed integration in our ticker plant.
  • Full Software Lifecycle development exposure.
  • Value-added software development.

Requirements
  • This is a contractor role for 1 year, with the potential renovation for 2 years.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical discipline with strong academic credentials.
  • Experienced in C/C++ development (minimum of 3 years commercial experience).
  • Strong knowledge of STL and Boost.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (TCP, UDP, multicast, etc).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with real-time data feeds and financial information desirable.
  • Experience developing on Windows platforms an advantage.
