About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Market Fundamentals & Trading Analytics, this role leverages deep expertise in North American refined products markets to lead analysis that supports corporate strategy and business development initiatives. A key requirement is the ability to translate complex data and insights into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate messaging. The ideal candidate brings 12+ years of experience in Market Fundamentals or a comparable analytical function, along with strong business acumen and excellent communication skills.

This position is located in Calgary, AB.

What you’ll do:

  • Advise senior leadership and key stakeholders on North American refined products market fundamentals and implications for Cenovus’ core markets.

  • Lead critical analysis to support corporate strategy and business development initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain long-term refined products supply and demand models, focusing on key hubs to inform strategic and commercial decisions.

  • Conduct market deep dives and level-set analyses on new or emerging markets of interest.

  • Own the refined products outlook and price sensitivities used for annual planning processes.

  • Deliver timely, consistent market intelligence and insights to business units and senior leadership.

  • Translate complex information into clear, concise, audience-appropriate communication, with regular engagement at the senior leadership level.

  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships, provide mentorship to junior analysts, and support teams through complex change initiatives.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Post-secondary degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering).

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in analytical roles supporting commercial teams or corporate strategy.

  • Strong market acumen, particularly in commodities where Cenovus has physical exposure.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and develop effective solutions and strategies.

  • Creative, innovative, and solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to operate in a dynamic market environment.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to coach and mentor others.
