About the Role

At Lyra we believe that data-driven technology and decision making is a critical part of solving the thorny, complex challenges of provider quality and accessibility in a broken system. We are looking for an experienced Sr. AI/ML Engineer who is eager to build the backend infrastructure necessary to deliver generative AI based products and who cares about impact, ownership, cross-functional projects, and mentorship. 


This role can be carried out from our Burlingame, CA headquarters, hybrid, or fully remote/virtually. Remote candidates must be physically located within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Be part of a team working on building generative AI powered solutions
  • Create the necessary backend infrastructure to enable scalable, resilient and highly performant solutions
  • Deploy and manage various applications in our Kubernetes clusters
  • Deploy and manage various databases and document stores for AI enabled solutions
  • Work with stakeholders on requirements and solutions for AI/ML backend infrastructure
  • And of course, you will be coding every day!

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience delivering production ready AI/ML products
  • Ability to write high-quality code in Python
  • Experience building RESTful APIs
  • Experience working with Docker and deploying applications to Kubernetes
  • Experience with relational and low-latency databases
  • Experience working with Celery
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally in Github Actions
  • A desire to learn new technologies quickly
  • A love of building systems from scratch
  • A track record of making quality vs. deadline tradeoffs in fast-paced environments
  • Strong communication skills and ability to generate consensus and buy-in within the team
  • Organizational skills and the ability to simplify complex problems and prioritize what matters most for the sake of the team and the business

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) based solutions
  • Experience setting up and maintaining vector databases
  • Experience evaluating context specific LLM responses
  • Experience working with tools such as Haystack or Langchain
  • Experience building solutions on cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS
  • Experience working with highly sensitive data in a healthcare environment
