PAY RANGE
The Target Pay Range for this position is $128,900.00-$157,500.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $99,900.00 - $186,400.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:
As a Senior Commercial Portfolio Manager, you’ll play a vital role in protecting and growing BECU’s commercial lending portfolio while helping our members thrive. Your expertise will directly influence sound credit decisions, strengthen long-term member relationships, and ensure BECU continues to deliver responsible, sustainable financial solutions.
In this role, you’ll bring your experience, judgment, and insight to complex Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) relationships. You’ll have the autonomy to make meaningful credit decisions, the opportunity to guide others through mentorship, and the ability to shape outcomes that support both member success and BECU’s financial strength. To join our dynamic team in this role, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, CA, AZ, TX, NC, SC, GA, or VA. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance to our Tukwila Headquarters (TFC), we encourage you come into the office on Tuesdays & Wednesdays each week. For those candidates that live outside the commutable distance to TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be primarily remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Manage and Grow Your Portfolio: You’ll oversee an assigned portfolio of business credits, completing annual reviews, managing extensions of credit, and evaluating new credit requests to ensure each relationship remains strong and aligned with BECU’s standards.
Lead Credit Analysis and Underwriting: You’ll perform detailed financial spreads, analyze balance sheets and cash flow, and underwrite new and existing relationships—bringing clarity and confidence to complex credit decisions.
Exercise Independent Credit Authority: You’ll recommend and approve credit requests within your lending authority, including risk ratings, pricing, and structures for large and complex CRE and C&I credits.
Support Members Through Challenges: When loans become troubled, you’ll collaborate with borrowers, Relationship Managers, and legal partners to navigate solutions until transition to Credit Risk Special Assets occurs.
Advise Business Services Leadership: You’ll provide thoughtful recommendations on new credit requests, renewals, and annual reviews, helping leadership make informed, strategic decisions.
Structure and Protect Credit Relationships:
You’ll work closely with attorneys and financial professionals to ensure loan structures are accurate, compliant, and designed to protect BECU’s interests.Collaborate and Mentor: You’ll coach, partner with, and mentor colleagues—sharing your technical expertise and serving as a trusted consultative resource across Business Services.
Negotiate Credit Terms: You’ll negotiate credit terms, pricing, repayment structures, and collateral requirements, balancing member needs with prudent risk management.
Stay Current and Compliant: You’ll maintain deep knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, and regulatory changes, ensuring all work aligns with compliance and information protection standards.
Represent BECU in the Community: You’ll actively promote BECU through community involvement and industry organizations, strengthening relationships and reinforcing our commitment to the business community.
Contribute Where Needed: You’ll take on additional responsibilities as assigned, supporting the evolving needs of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field, or equivalent work or educational experience.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) analysis, underwriting and/or relationship management in financial institutions.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience using a variety of analytical tools to spread financial statements, analyze credit quality, analyze balance sheets, assess cash flow, model base case and downside forecasts, evaluate risk and support credit approval.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills in Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) lending, including in-depth knowledge of industry practices.
Advanced credit and credit quality skills including accounting, financial statement spreading, and cash flow analysis experience.
Advanced knowledge of credit policies, procedures, practices and documentation.
Proficient verbal and written skills to effectively communicate.
Effective leadership and negotiation skills.
Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary.
