The Senior Director, Operations Management is a senior leadership position within the Operations Management team. Operations Management’s mission is to provide our corporate and operations teams with the best-in-class operations support platform to achieve our business objectives, dedicated to fostering synergy between operations and corporate functions. Operations Management delivers experienced community staffing support services and exemplary centralized operational functions to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and execution. The Senior Director, Operations Management, will oversee the community staffing support services, site review and audit, onsite hiring and onboarding, evictions, and past resident debt collection functions. This position works closely with other senior leaders within Operations Management as well as other senior leaders across the broader operations organization and other corporate departments to ensure efficient and effective execution of the team’s responsibilities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Lead by example and embody Essex’s core values to lead the team through effective coaching, development and accountability.
- Work closely with the Operations Management Senior Leadership team, Vice President, Operations Management, Group Vice President of Community Operations, Senior Directors of Community Management, Senior Director of Field Services, and other Senior Operations leaders to ensure open lines of communication, collaboration and partnership focused on fostering a one-team environment.
- Oversee the Operations Staff Services platform which includes providing community floater support, centralized payment functions, onsite audit, and onsite employee interviewing, training and onboarding.
- Oversee the Account Resolution team which includes the eviction and past resident debt collection efforts, striving to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the eviction process and collection of past resident delinquency.
- Work in concert with the Company’s standardization and project management team (EWAY) to assess and re-envision, where necessary, existing processes to address any operational challenges, streamline processes, and enhance communication, results and team synergy.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent from four-year college or university is required.
- MBA, CPA, CFA or professional certification strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience with an emphasis on managing multi-function teams preferably within the multifamily or other commercial real estate asset classes.
WHAT THE JOB REQUIRES:
- Work is primarily conducted in an office setting. Requires sitting or standing at a desk or workstation for extended periods. Involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
- Minimal physical effort in the day-to-day tasks.
- May require travel to various locations.
- Operates in a fast-paced work setting. Requires the ability to multitask and adapt quickly to changing priorities. May involve tight deadlines and high-energy work situations.
- Requires the ability to work Monday through Friday. Entails in-person office requirements for a minimum of 3 days per the Company's hybrid policy, located at Essex's corporate office in Irvine.

The salary range for this position is $152,000.00 - $244,000.00 per year. New hires generally start between $152,000.00 - $199,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.
This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
