At SecondShop, we’re a team of Canadians who believe in doing better—for our country, your wallets, and our planet.

We started with a simple idea: why should perfectly good products go to waste or sit unsold when people like you are out there looking for smart ways to save? We have made it our mission to source the highest quality open-box, overstocked, and scratch-and-dent products from the top brands - offering them to Canadians at up to 50% off. But we are not just about savings—we’re about changing how people shop. Say goodbye to paying full price and hello to smarter spending! Learn more about us at www.secondshop.ca

About the Role

We’re looking for a Sr Ecommerce Specialist to own how customers discover, understand, and purchase products on SecondShop.ca. This role sits at the intersection of merchandising, UX, inventory, and technology, and is critical to improving conversion, order value, and overall customer confidence when buying big-ticket items online.

You’ll develop a deep understanding of our inventory and customer behaviour, and translate that into a best-in-class browsing and discovery experience despite our unpredictable and constantly changing stock. Learn more about us at www.secondshop.ca

What You’ll Do

  • Increase average order value through intelligent product recommendations and substitutions
  • Manage product listings and confirm correct descriptions, dimensions, photos, manuals and supporting information are provided to help customers with decision making.
  • Build deep inventory knowledge, including which products are substitutable and how to present those options clearly
  • Launch, own, and continuously refresh “Shop the Look” and other new design inspired shopping options
  • Support new category launches and expansions across the site
  • Own and operate ecommerce tooling, including AI-driven quality assurance tools for large SKU volumes
  • Manage SEO metadata for both traditional search engines and emerging AI-driven discovery
  • Work closely with Ops, Supply, and Marketing to ensure inventory, imagery, and product quality are accurately represented

Who We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in ecommerce or digital merchandising
  • Background in consumer brands is essential
  • Proficiency in AI tooling for ecommerce
  • Experience in home, appliances, furniture, or renovation-related categories strongly preferred
  • Exposure to premium brands or well-trained ecommerce environments is a plus
  • Marketplace, recommerce, or unpredictable inventory experience is a significant asset
  • Algolia experience (search, personalisation, ranking) is highly desirable
  • Comfortable using data, experimentation, and tooling to drive decisions
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and excited to learn a complex category
  • Experience at retailers like Home Depot would stand out

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary depending on experience ($80,000.00 - $105,000.00) and comprehensive benefits package
  • A high-impact role in a rapidly scaling Series A company
  • Real ownership over a core commercial lever of the business
  • Exposure to complex ecommerce challenges you won’t find in traditional retail
  • A collaborative, execution-focused team with strong operators across Product, Ops, and Growth

Employees can spend up to one-third of their life at work, so choosing the right company is crucial, not just for the job itself but for the company culture as well. While startups often offer dynamic culture and growth opportunities, large corporations provide benefits like career development and networking, especially appealing to recent graduates. Fortunately, Calgary stands out as a hub for both, recognized as one of Startup Genome's Top 100 Emerging Ecosystems, while also playing host to a number of multinational enterprises. In Calgary, job seekers can find a wide range of opportunities.
