Position Title: Sr. Project Engineer
Department: Project Engineering
Compensation: $125,000 - $160,000 + annual bonus (range varies depending on location; paid in local currency)
Reports To: Global Director, Project Engineering
Location: Canada or USA

About the Role:

e-STORAGE is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the successful execution of utility-scale battery energy storage system projects across North America. Working within a cross-functional project team, you will oversee engineering activities from design development through construction and commissioning, serving as the primary technical point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a high-ownership role requiring strong electrical engineering knowledge, sound technical judgment, and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, engineering consultants, suppliers, EPC contractors, and other key stakeholders. The position involves up to 25% travel within Canada and the United States to support design verification, construction inspections, and the resolution of project-specific technical issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the technical execution of utility-scale battery storage projects from design development through construction and commissioning

  • Serve as the primary project point of contact for technical requests, engineering coordination, and project support

  • Manage technical scope, engineering schedules, project stakeholders, and deliverables to support successful project execution

  • Develop technical specifications and support vendor reviews, supplier qualification, testing, and commissioning activities

  • Support procurement and tendering activities by preparing technical requirements, coordinating supplier information, maintaining technical Q&A logs, and evaluating EPC bidder proposals

  • Manage external engineering consultants and lead technical coordination and design-review meetings

  • Review and coordinate engineering designs and technical documentation from suppliers, consultants, and contractors, identifying gaps and driving the timely resolution of comments

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering requirements across electrical, civil, structural, mechanical, controls, and balance-of-plant systems

  • Review Factory Acceptance Test procedures and reports to confirm compliance with project requirements

  • Conduct site visits to verify that construction and installation activities align with approved designs, drawings, specifications, and quality expectations

  • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning, helping resolve design, installation, and project-execution issues

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • An educational background in in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience

  • At least five years of project engineering, systems engineering, or related technical experience supporting complex energy, power, or electrical infrastructure projects

  • Strong knowledge of low- and medium-voltage electrical systems, including cable sizing, short-circuit and load-flow analysis, protective-device coordination, and arc-flash studies

  • Demonstrated experience reviewing engineering designs, drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation to identify gaps and resolve technical issues

  • Working knowledge of grid-interconnection requirements and applicable renewable energy and energy storage codes and standards, including UL, NFPA, IEEE, NETA, NERC, and relevant regional market requirements

  • Experience supporting procurement and technical bid evaluations for major electrical equipment such as inverters, transformers, and switchgear

  • Ability to travel up to 25% within Canada and the United States, including occasional multi-day site visits

  • Familiarity with EMS, SCADA, PPCs, PLCs, IT/OT networks, communication protocols, and related control systems is considered an asset

  • Knowledge of balance-of-plant systems, including UPS systems, fire detection and suppression, HVAC, and auxiliary electrical systems, is considered an asset
