Senior Workday HRIS Analyst, Calgary, AB

MEG Energy is excited to announce an opening for an experienced Senior Workday HRIS Analyst to join our dynamic and results-oriented Human Resources team. In this key role, you will take charge of the continuous improvement and development of our Workday HCM modules. As the subject matter expert on Workday, you will provide essential functional expertise and ongoing support for production activities, reporting, and various projects. Your collaboration with HR team members and other departments will be vital in ensuring that organizational needs are met effectively, driving initiatives that enhance our Workday system and overall HR processes.

In this role you will:  

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to represent HR Solutions, supporting and enabling business priorities through the effective use of Workday HCM.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert in system administration, HR transactions, and business process configuration and design. Provide guidance to the HR team, managers, and employees on the proper utilization of the system.
  • Play a critical role in shaping and advancing our Workday Roadmap by driving thoughtful continuous improvement and ongoing development. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead impactful HR initiatives within our organization.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Provide support for various Workday modules, including Human Capital Management, Advanced Compensation, Recruitment, Learning, Absence, Time Tracking, Talent, Succession, and Onboarding, along with Security, Business Processes, and Reporting.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to lead design and process development, gather and define requirements, recommendations, document changes for change control purposes, design and implement solutions, and ensure user ease of adoption and will support the organization in achieving optimized transactions and processes.
  • Review, test and implement bi-annual Workday releases; determining impact, presenting suggested new features in detail with final recommendations on which to implement; participate in regression testing for new system features and communication of changes/benefits to end-users.
  • Work closely with the key stakeholders of the IT team for work related to Workday Integrations and Tableau.
  • Deliver ad hoc Workday support, addressing inquiries, troubleshooting issues, implementing configuration changes, and offering solutions to users.
  • Manage scheduled support for regular HR processes, performance reviews, and annual compensation reviews.
  • Act as a trusted resource for the business, providing expertise in system administration and HR transactions while training HR team members on effective Workday usage.
  • Stay informed about current and emerging trends in relevant technologies and best practices by actively participating in the Workday Community.

What you will bring to MEG:

  • 6-8+ years of progressive Workday functional experience, showcasing advanced understanding and configuration proficiency across multiple Workday modules, including Core HCM, Compensation, Talent, Succession, Learning, Timekeeping/Absence Management, Integrations, and Workday Enterprise Interface Builder.
  • Strong project management skills, proven troubleshooting and issue resolution expertise.
  • Proficient in Excel, with a solid working knowledge of formulas to facilitate data analysis and reporting. Experience with Tableau is an asset
  • Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining Workday reports and dashboards that support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Can work autonomously and in a team environment as applicable. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify root causes of complex issues, and implement practical solutions.
  • Ability to effectively engage and influence people at all levels in the organization.
