Upbound is the company behind Crossplane, the open source project which started the control plane revolution in the cloud native community. Upbound helps companies rise above the clouds with our Crossplane powered Universal Cloud Platform. With Upbound you get universal real-time visibility into all of your infrastructure environments, the same API centric approach Kubernetes pioneered for managing infrastructure and policies, and self service infrastructure capabilities.

The core of the Upbound product revolves around a managed Crossplane experience for hosting control planes in Spaces. Upbound offers this experience in both SaaS and customer self-hosted deployment modes. With more organizations choosing to build platform control planes on top of our Spaces experience, we have ambitious plans to enhance the product to make it even more indispensable for Crossplane platform builders and operators: day 2 operations like disaster recovery, integrations with other platform services like secret stores, auto-managed experiences and more.

Upbound is seeking an experienced Product Manager to spearhead the development and evolution of Upbound's core managed experience revolving around Spaces. Success in this role will be driving our strategy and execution for making Upbound the clear choice for starting, running, and scaling Crossplane to power platform control planes. This role is North America based, collaborating with teams based in the US and EMEA, and requires working within GMT-5 to GMT-8.

In this role you will…

  • Spearhead the development and implementation of a market-leading managed Crossplane experience by crafting the vision, strategy, roadmap, and execution plan.
  • Be the voice of the customer and translate feedback into product requirements, strategy docs, and user stories.
  • Work with engineering teams to prioritize backlog, identify user gaps
  • Create low-fidelity mockups and work through end user features deeply
  • Work closely with Design to create holistic user journeys
  • Work with the broader Upbound product team to align roadmaps and plans.
  • Work closely with customer service to understand and respond to customer needs.

You are a good fit if you have…

  • Have built managed X-as-a-service product experiences
  • Existing PM experience with SaaS UI based products
  • Know, have used, and care about Crossplane. Being the front face for Crossplane’s commercial product requires deep knowledge of the underlying OSS project and problems it addresses.
  • Very familiar with Kubernetes and the related ecosystem
  • Enterprise product management experience
  • 8+ years of Product Management experience
  • Public examples of code on GH/GL (of any quality, this role isn't shipping production code)
  • Constantly think ‘there has got to be a better way to do this’ about anything

It’s a plus if you have…

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Crossplane
  • Experience creating diagrams and simple illustrations which enhance your content
  • Worked with open source communities and managed public roadmaps
