Job Description
Cash App's Financial Platform team is responsible for building systems that power products built by Cash App. We build deep integrations with underlying financial infrastructures and ensure that our products are able to scale.
About the teams that are hiring in the US & Canada on Financial Platform:
Chargebacks:
We own the chargebacks platform that minimizes post-payment losses through advanced deflection and response automation, protecting millions in transactions across Cash and parts of Square ecosystem. In close collaboration with Risk AI/ML, Financial Partnerships and Operations teams, we're developing data-driven strategies to manage risk, optimize responses across payment processors, and improve our win rates across various networks. Our focus on observability and service level objectives (SLOs) ensures a high-performance platform that scales seamlessly with Cash and Square's expanding capabilities. In this role, you'll play a key role working cross-functionally to make an impact and shape a resilient, forward-thinking platform that prioritizes trust and operational excellence at scale.
You Will:

  • Design, build and support the core systems used to power all transactions on Cash App
  • Tackle complex technical challenges creatively and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Partner closely with product managers, data scientists, product engineers, and business leads to define our roadmap, ensuring alignment across teams and stakeholders
  • Have autonomy to research and achieve outcomes with support when you need it
  • Contributing to the growth of our development capabilities through leading, mentoring and supporting fellow engineers


You Have:

  • 8+ years of experience delivering quality software solutions, including experience as a technical lead
  • A strong ability to work cross-functionally, collaborating with diverse stakeholders and adapting to evolving priorities
  • Natural curiosity to learn new technologies, solve interesting problems and build quality software
  • Desire to find flaws in a system with many moving parts and take whatever steps are necessary to fix them
  • Desire to perform and grow as an engineer with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
  • Technical initiative and leadership on previous projects
