Okta is seeking a technical writer with a passion for creating and delivering developer-centered technical content. We’re looking for a collaborative, creative team member who understands how to write content that is clear, concise, and relevant. 

In this role, you will work closely with a global network of engineers, product managers, and customer success professionals to understand real-world use cases for identity and access management. You will create practical technical content that guides Okta’s community of developers to successfully adopt and deploy our solutions.

Core responsibilities

  • Design, develop, edit, and deliver accurate and effective developer documentation for Okta products.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Product Management, QA, Support, Developer Content Strategy, and members of the Information Development team to ensure quality and accuracy of content.
  • Prioritize projects when working with multiple engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with developers to review and finalize API documentation.
  • Analyze customer feedback before and after delivering documentation to enhance content depth, quality, and relevance.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • 5 years relevant experience writing developer documentation for Cloud or Enterprise products.
  • Bachelor degree or certificate in Technical Writing is preferred.
  • Experience writing developer and API documentation.
  • Experience using Visual Studio Code, Redocly or similar developer documentation tools.
  • Experience writing SDK and developer tools documentation. 
  • Experience using source control tools such as Git and GitHub and creating content in Markdown and YAML.
  • Strong ability to understand the application of security products in the real world and produce use case-based content.

Desired knowledge 

  • Proven record of writing accurate, clear, and concise documentation for a developer audience
  • Knowledge of Okta or similar identity and access management solutions

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:

$99,000$149,000 CAD
