About the Role: 

Motive is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Staff UX/Product Writer to champion clear, consistent, and delightful user experiences across our entire product ecosystem.  As a player/coach, you will not only craft compelling product content but also manage, mentor and guide other a small team of writers in best practices. This role is pivotal in shaping how our customers interact with our applications, hardware installations, product onboarding, and support materials.  You'll be a key partner to product designers, product managers, product operations, and customer success/support, collaborating closely to ensure our product voice is unified and impactful.  You will own the evolution, maintenance, and governance of our content style guides and standards, ensuring they remain relevant and effective as our product evolves.  This role requires comfort with context switching between multiple product areas and touchpoints, embracing a fast-paced, iterative work environment, and the ability to seamlessly integrate new design tools into your workflow. A solid understanding and experience with complex enterprise/SaaS products and content considerations for a global market are essential for success.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Content Creation: Write clear, concise, and user-focused copy for a variety of product touchpoints, including in-app microcopy, user interface text, help documentation, onboarding flows, tutorials, release notes, and marketing materials as needed.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with product designers, product managers, engineers, and product marketing to understand user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • Strategy: Contribute to the overall product content strategy, identifying opportunities to improve user engagement and satisfaction through effective communication.
  • Style Guide Management: Own and maintain our content style guides, ensuring they are up-to-date, comprehensive, and accessible to the entire team. Champion the adoption of these guidelines across the organization. Leverage new technologies (eg AI, custom GPTs) to integrate our guidelines into day-to-day processes of cross functional peers
  • User Research: Collaborate with UX researchers to understand user behavior and incorporate insights into content decisions. Conduct your own light user research as needed.
  • Testing and Iteration: Analyze content performance and iterate based on user feedback and data. Participate in A/B testing and other optimization efforts.
  • Mentorship: Coach and mentor other team members on UX writing best practices and style guide adherence.
  • Advocacy: Be a passionate advocate for user-centered content, best practices, and global readiness within the organization.

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience working as a UX writer, product designer or content strategist.
  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing your UX writing and content strategy skills, specifically highlighting experience with enterprise/SaaS products and global considerations.
  • Product Knowledge: Solid understanding and experience with complex enterprise and SaaS products.
  • User Focus: Strong user focus.
  • Communication: Great communication skills, written and verbal, with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail with borderline obsessive organizational skills.
  • Content Creation & Editing: Can edit existing work or create new copy with input from stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Comfort with context switching between multiple product areas and touchpoints.
  • Work Style: Can embrace a fast-paced, iterative work environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Can integrate new design tools into your workflow. Strong embrace of new technologies including generative AI, Figma, and CMS.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred. 


Pay Transparency
Your compensation may be based on several factors, including education, work experience, and certifications. For certain roles, total compensation may include restricted stock units. Motive offers benefits including health, pharmacy, optical and dental care benefits, paid time off, sick time off, short term and long term disability coverage, life insurance as well as 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The compensation range for this position will depend on where you reside. For this role, the compensation range is:

United States

$162,000$248,000 USD
