THE OPPORTUNITY
Looking to do what you love at a dynamic and Innovative consulting firm? We are looking for a Structural Design Technologist to join our Structural Department at our Chilliwack or Kelowna office locations on a permanent full-time basis. Our preferred candidate will have a Civil/Structural Engineering Technologist Diploma / Certificate from an accredited university or college, with an emphasis on Structural. You will have a keen interest in structures, an understanding of construction methods and details, and preferably have experience with drawing preparation and coordination, construction details and structural design.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understanding and accurately translating engineering sketches and markups into properly documented drawings.
- Design management and preparation of structural design drawings using AutoCAD and REVIT.
- An ability and desire to grow your knowledge in the structural engineering environment.
- A current ability to prepare structural drawings and details and coordinate with other disciplines drawings with minimal supervision.
- Liase with Clients, Architects, Developers and Contractors.
- Coordinate and communicate with project engineer and design team.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Civil/Structural Engineering Technologist Diploma / Certificate from an accredited university or college.
- Mandatory minimum of 5 years’ experience with structural project drafting.
- Certified, or be eligible to certify, with ASTTBC.
- Extensive knowledge of drafting using AutoCAD and REVIT.
- Experience developing structural details for connections and framing.
- Familiarity with the material codes and standard details.
- Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills along with exceptional time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability and experience with site inspections is an asset.
