Job Description

AECOM Canada is seeking a Structural Engineer specializing in hydroelectric projects to join our team. Reporting to the Civil Engineering Department Head (Structural), the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and advancing AECOM’s Hydroelectric team on various projects.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with clients to assess project needs, present technical information, and deliver structural designs and study results.
  • Project Coordination: Assist the Project Manager in monitoring, coordinating, and advancing the production of deliverables by the design teams for hydroelectric structures.
  • Technical Analysis & Design: Perform structural calculations for hydroelectric components, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Coordinate and supervise technicians and designers involved in hydroelectric structural design.
  • Proposal & Budgeting Support: Prepare budgetary estimates and contribute to proposal activities for the Structural discipline.
  • Site Supervision: Travel to hydroelectric project sites for inspections and construction supervision, as required.
  • Bidding & Business Development: Assist in preparing bids and proposals while fostering client relationships in the hydroelectric sector.


    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural).
    • 6+ years of direct experience in in hydroelectric structural design.
    • Professional Engineer (PEng) designation or eligibility.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 years dedicated to hydroelectric power plant design.
    • Extensive experience with structural analysis software.
    • Strong French communication skills (spoken and written) are an asset.
    • Proficiency in 3D design and modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Revit, Civil 3D, Catia, MicroStation).
