THE POSITION

Keyera is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Sustainability Analyst to join our team in Calgary. Reporting to the Team Lead, Sustainability Integration, and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as Environment, Corporate Strategy, Commercial and Operations, this role plays a critical part in advancing our sustainability efforts.

In this role, you will contribute to the development and ongoing improvement of sustainability tools and models while supporting Keyera’s strategic initiatives to embed sustainability practices across the organization. The successful candidate will take a hands-on approach in maintaining and enhancing Keyera’s corporate sustainability models and helping shape our Business Sustainability strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • GHG & Carbon Credits Stewardship: Oversee the management and continuous improvement of Keyera's Corporate GHG Emissions & Carbon Credits Model and Corporate Water Use Models.

  • Sustainability Tools Development: Support the creation and upkeep of tools that track and meet Business Sustainability goals, including:

    • Corporate Sustainability Dashboard & KPIs tracking performance against GHG emission targets.

    • Assisting with interim GHG goal setting and long-term GHG cost/credit forecasting.

    • Leading analytics for Scope 3 emissions quantification, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate findings into business strategy.

  • Carbon Credit & PPA Support: Partner with Marketing to evolve Keyera's carbon credit management strategy and analyze new Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for renewable power and environmental offset generation.

  • Project Evaluations: Work closely with Corporate Development to assess the GHG emission cost impacts on emission reduction projects.

  • Industry Benchmarking & Intelligence: Conduct competitor intelligence, benchmarking, and market research to distill sustainability insights and industry trends.

  • Sustainability Impact Assessments: Support sustainability evaluations for growth capital, maintenance, and operational projects.

  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improving sustainability impact through operational changes.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Develop presentations and reports to communicate sustainability findings to both peers and senior leaders, helping embed sustainability into organizational decision-making.

  • Best Practices: Support the implementation of sustainability best practices across the organization.

  • Trend Reporting: Produce monthly sustainability "headlights" reports to raise internal awareness and drive capacity building.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Educational Background: Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Relevant Experience: At least 4 years of experience, ideally in roles such as Corporate Strategy/Planning, Business Development, Investment Banking/Research, Regulatory Compliance, or Engineering within the energy sector.

    • Professional Designations such as CFA, CPA, CBV, or P. Eng are considered an asset.

  • Technical Expertise: Proven ability in modeling, data analysis, and financial modeling with high attention to detail.

    • Experience in GHG Emissions compliance regulations is an asset.

  • Collaborative Team Player: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to synthesize information from various sources and deliver actionable strategic insights.

  • Software Proficiency: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with modeling tools and data management software is a plus.
