OVERVIEW:

With over 300 employees in our IT department, individuals contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of applications that serve both our internal and external customers. Our teams are divided by the portfolios they serve, ranging from Administration, Claims, Sales, Finance, Enterprise Services and more. Our applications are supported by teams that include Business Analysts, Quality Assurance, Infrastructure Operations, and a Project Management Office.

In this work from home position, you will report to the Team Manager, Enterprise Applications.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Work proactively with business areas to ensure software solutions are maintained and updated in a timely manner as required and expand the capabilities of the application solutions as prioritized by management. 
  • Liaise with external vendors and experts to plan and implement software upgrades and identify possible improvements to the tools.
  • Communicate effectively with your team, team manager, other technical teams and business customers.
  • Produce and maintain program code (mostly PL/SQL) and documentation.
  • Understand, design, build and test business requested changes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Design and build data interfaces and extracts.
  • Prepare functional specifications for user sign-off.
  • Review requirements with business users and provide time estimates for task completion.
  • Provide second tier technical support for a large number of varying COTS applications.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and users on discovering and enhancing system capabilities.
  • Analyze application and workflow issues and review process requirements with the users.
  • Assess the root cause of issues and recommend changes.
  • Perform systems testing with both IT and business customers.
  • Prepare documentation and instructions for the execution of application programs.
  • Work as part of a project team as required.
  • Apply quality control standards.
  • Become a knowledge expert of the application environment, interdependencies, and integrations with other systems.
  • Follow Systems Development Life Cycle best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple teams across the organization.
  • Provides on-call support (failures, issues, etc.) on an as needed basis.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:

  • A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience in:
    • Software, and/or tool implementation, upgrades or maintenance.
    • Supporting business areas in the resolution of problems and/or enhancing application functionality.
    • Supporting COTS applications.
    • Working with external vendors.
  • Ability to write efficient, complex queries against very large data sets.
  • Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
  • Applied knowledge of Oracle development tools including PL/SQL and/or Oracle ADF.
  • Completion of Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate would be considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of database environments would be considered an asset.
  • Proven experience in Object Oriented, Relational and UML methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical, problem-solving and consultation skills are a must.
  • Demonstrated project leadership expertise would be highly beneficial.
  • Must be able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn business applications.
  • Solid customer service and communication skills. Must be comfortable interacting with internal customers.
  • Knowledge and experience with SharePoint, Oracle WCC, Kofax, Kaltura, Qvidian, Tealium, Teammate and Gitlab would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge on Agile methodology is an asset.
