OVERVIEW:

Alberta Blue Cross ® has an opportunity for a System Analyst - Enterprise Server and Storage.  You will be joining a team responsible for the planning, implementation, management, and monitoring of highly secure and  resilient server, data storage, data backup, and virtualization environments, including both on-premise and cloud hosted technologies. This team plays a key role in supporting Windows and Linux server environments, as well as infrastructure systems based on Microsoft, VMware, Red Hat and Dell platforms. 

Our ideal candidate has very strong technical abilities, has a solid foundation of experience in systems administration, and is highly skilled at scripting, automation, securing systems and solving complex problems.  This is a work from home  position and reports to the Team Manager of Enterprise Server and Storage in the IT Infrastructure and Operations Department.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Administer and support Microsoft and/or Linux based enterprise and cloud applications.

  • Have the opportunity be a subject matter expert specializing in Microsoft Azure and Office 365  technologies, as well as Windows, Linux, virtualization, storage, and backups.  You will be encouraged to both develop specialized skills as well as continue to expand breadth of knowledge and versatility over time.

  • Maintain highly reliable, stable, resilient, and secure server and storage infrastructure environments, with focus on continuous improvement and ongoing enhancements.

  • Provide technical expertise in support of complex infrastructure working closely with customers and vendors to resolve technical issues. Engage vendors as required to expedite resolutions.

  • Develop methods to streamline and automate the deployment, installation, and administration of supported systems.

  • Continuously enhance the security our systems using industry best practices for patching and hardening supported systems.

  • Provide input and ideas into the planning and delivery of technical solutions for new technology deployment and corporate projects.  

  • Create and update documentation including standard operating procedures, knowledge base articles and project documentation.

  • Participate in a rotational, 24x7 on-call production support cycle.

  • The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete a personnel security screening and obtain a security clearance.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:

  • A diploma or degree in a related technical discipline from a recognized institute.

  • 5+ years of experience in an enterprise IT environment.

  • Previous experience administering Azure technologies. Experience with multiple cloud vendors (AWS, GCP, etc.) is a bonus.

  • A solid understanding of Azure services and architecture.

  • Strong scripting and automation experience. PowerShell, Ansible, and Terraform are desirable.

  • Advanced knowledge of one or more of the following technologies:

    • Microsoft Active Directory, and Microsoft Windows server technologies.

    • Microsoft Exchange and Teams.

    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL); equivalencies will be considered.

    • VMWare vSphere

  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.

  • A keen interest in technology with a passion for continuous learning and growth.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Self-motivated and detail oriented. Effective at planning, organization, and time management.

  • A positive attitude and a desire to build strong effective working relationships in a collaborative team environment demonstrating a service orientated mindset and strong interpersonal skills.

  • A very high level of accountability and a demonstrated ability to be both reliable and dependable.  

  • Have a strong aptitude for process improvement and a desire to keep current with technology.

  • Ability to be versatile and highly adaptable to respond to changing business priorities.
