We are looking for an organized and motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a Tax Accountant for our Calgary, ON office.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise all aspects of audit engagements from planning to completion. Collaborate with engagement teams to ensure efficient and effective audit execution.
- Act as the primary liaison with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) during an audit.
- Prepare and submit all requested documents, including tax returns, financial statements, and other supporting materials for CRA audits.
- Respond to CRA audit inquiries, providing detailed explanations and supporting documentation.
- Review audit findings, assess potential tax implications, and work to resolve discrepancies or issues raised by the CRA.
- Coordinate with tax professionals and external advisors to ensure compliance with CRA regulations and mitigate any potential risks.
- Analyze financial statements to assess their accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting principles. Identify and address potential errors, misstatements, or irregularities.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments & develop comprehensive audit plans that address key risk areas and comply with auditing guidelines.
- Documents audit findings and test results, exercising judgment to analyze results in preparing working papers which record and summarize audit data and adequately support audit findings and conclusions.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
- Involved in day to day accounting processes (Invoice entry, bank reconciliation, month end closing).
- Bookkeeping duties such as monthly accounting, GST/ HST, payroll, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent certification preferred).
- A minimum of 2 years of accounting and audit experience.
- Strong experience in managing and coordinating CRA audits, with an in-depth understanding of Canadian tax regulations.
- Knowledge of Canadian GAAP, IFRS, and auditing standards.
- Proficiency in accounting and audit software (e.g., SAP, CaseWare, QuickBooks).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
