You will represent Shermco’s full suite of electrical testing, maintenance, repair, commissioning, and engineering services while working closely with operations, engineering, and field service teams to support customer needs.

This role is well suited for a sales professional with B2B outside sales experience, technical curiosity, and the ability to build trusted relationships with customers in industrial, power, utility, and commercial markets.

Responsibilities
  • Build and execute territory and account plans to meet or exceed assigned revenue, margin, and growth targets.
  • Create and maintain a forward-looking opportunity pipeline by actively prospecting, generating new opportunities, and pursuing new-logo acquisition, rather than relying only on existing pipeline.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities with industrial clients, data centres, hospitals, utilities, electrical contractors, and other technical customers.
  • Develop and expand relationships across multiple levels of customer accounts through regular site visits, account reviews, follow-ups, and proactive communication.
  • Convert customer meetings into clearly identified needs, qualified opportunities, quotes, and orders through consultative, solution-based selling.
  • Prepare and present estimates, proposals, technical presentations, and customer solutions in partnership with engineering and operations teams.
  • Maintain commercial ownership of customer opportunities throughout the sales cycle while collaborating closely with operations, engineering, and field service teams to support successful delivery.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for sales opportunities, pricing discussions, contract terms, issue resolution, and post-award support.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales activity, opportunity stages, customer communication, and forecasts, with a strong focus on forecast accuracy.
  • Conduct job walks, support lunch-and-learns, attend trade shows, and represent Shermco at customer and industry events.
  • Stay informed on customer needs, competitor activity, market trends, and emerging technologies in the electrical power services industry.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of B2B outside sales, account management, or business development experience, ideally within an industrial, electrical, utility, construction, engineering, or technical services environment.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • General understanding of electrical power services, such as testing, maintenance, commissioning, field services, or power system support, is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with NETA standards, electrical testing requirements, or electrical safety and maintenance practices would be an asset.
  • Ability to learn technical service offerings and translate customer needs into practical solutions with support from Shermco’s engineering, operations, and field service teams.
  • Experience managing customer accounts, developing new business, maintaining a sales pipeline, preparing proposals, and tracking opportunities in a CRM.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, presentation, organization, and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated, customer-focused, and comfortable managing a defined territory with regular customer visits.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel overnight up to 25% of the time for customer visits, site meetings, trade shows, and industry events.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet Shermco’s driving requirements for business travel.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites, conduct site visits, participate in job walks, and work in industrial or field environments as required.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of site visits, which may include standing, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, accessing customer facilities, and lifting up to 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively for customer communication, proposals, presentations, safety requirements, and internal collaboration.

Working Conditions

  • This role is based in Calgary, Alberta and will include regular customer-facing work across assigned territory locations.
  • Travel may include day trips, overnight travel, customer site visits, trade shows, conferences, and visits to industrial, utility, commercial, and field service environments.
  • Work may take place in office settings, customer facilities, industrial sites, substations, and outdoor environments.
  • Hours of work, overtime, time off, vacation, general holidays, and other employment standards will be administered in accordance with applicable Alberta employment standards legislation and Shermco policies.

Why Join Shermco?

  • Join a company that supports critical infrastructure and helps keep power systems safe, reliable, and efficient.
  • Work with experienced technical teams in electrical testing, engineering, maintenance, commissioning, and field services.
  • Be part of a safety-driven, customer-focused culture with opportunities for growth and career development.
  • Competitive compensation package, performance incentive opportunities, and comprehensive benefits.
  • Opportunity to represent a respected technical services provider with a strong reputation across the power systems industry.
