The Opportunity
Our Market Compliance and Energy Contracts team is seeking a detail‑oriented and initiative-taking Trade Compliance Analyst – Due Diligence to support daily trading and onboarding risk activities within the Trade Compliance function. This role is critical in ensuring that internal and external counterparties are appropriately onboarded and maintained, in accordance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and audit expectations.
Reporting to the Manager, Trade Compliance, this role also supports a range of trade compliance monitoring activities, including resolving margining discrepancies and providing back‑up coverage for monitoring position limits, trade surveillance, and other compliance risk reporting activities. The successful candidate will work closely with Corporate Compliance, Legal, Trading, Risk, and Operations to manage KYC processes, maintain accurate counterparty data, and support control assurance activities in a fast‑paced commodity trading environment.
What you'll do
Maintain and update counterparty reference data across ETRM and Document Management System, including completion of quarterly reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and completeness
Perform Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) maintenance for external counterparties and within ETRM, ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory standards
Support margin readiness activities, including validation of ETRM records and FCM documentation required to support trading activity
Facilitate dispute resolution with FCMs related to discrepancies in the margining process
Assist with user administration on ICE, CME and other trading platforms with cross‑training and back‑up support provided in coordination with team members
Maintain, monitor, and update records for the Control Dashboard on a daily and as‑required basis
Monitor the TCE Compliance inbox daily, triaging and responding to inquiries and requests in a timely manner
Support process audits, assurance activities, and internal control testing
Support regulatory swap reporting activities in collaboration with Trade Compliance team colleagues
Monitor internal swap reporting submission processes to ensure completeness and accuracy
Identify and escalate reporting errors, breaks, or exceptions in a timely manner
Coordinate with counterparties to provide Unique Transaction Identifiers (UTIs) when required
Draft and maintain process documentation (initial rough drafts) in collaboration with primary process owners, ensuring documentation remains current, clear, and audit‑ready
Identify opportunities to enhance counterparty onboarding, and data maintenance processes through improved controls, efficiency, and standardization
Ad Hoc requests and supports Manager, by actively communicating, incorporating feedback, and aligning work priorities with team objectives and control expectations
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, Legal studies, or a related discipline
2–5 years of experience in risk, compliance, energy trading, or a related control function
Experience maintaining data in ETRM systems (e.g., Endur), document management platforms (e.g., OpenText), and dashboards (e.g., Power BI.)
High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across Compliance, Legal, Trading, and Operations
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting commodity trading or energy marketing activities
Familiarity with LEI requirements, margining concepts, and counterparty onboarding frameworks
Demonstrated understanding of the trade confirmation process, with exposure to energy contracts
Prior experience supporting audit or assurance activities in a regulated environment
Experience with, or familiarity with, FERC and/or CFTC regulatory requirements, including compliance, reporting, or monitoring obligations
