CNA is seeking a Senior Learning & Development Consultant responsible for the technical design, development, and execution of learning solutions for the Underwriting group. This role focuses on key programs, technical underwriting training, and general underwriter development. The consultant will collaborate closely with home office and field organization leaders to identify development needs and implement learning strategies.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded Learning & Development professional with strong instructional design skills, extensive experience in developing eLearning solutions, and instructor-led content development experience. This role involves end-to-end coordination of training sessions, including defining, designing, developing, deploying, evaluating, and providing logistical support for delivery. While insurance industry experience is preferred, it is not required. Candidates should possess skills in project management, communication, and facilitation.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Summary
The Senior Learning & Development Consultant collaborates with Business Unit, Line of Business, field leaders, and other business stakeholders to build and deploy learning solutions across various platforms and delivery modes to enhance technical underwriting acumen.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
Design and develop training program content, exercises, case scenarios, and materials for instructor-led, online, or mobile eLearning.
Create comprehensive, modern, blended curricula to develop necessary skills. Work closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify skill gaps.
Understand current and future business environments to recommend impactful solutions.
Use strong project management practices to set strategy and budget for multi-work stream projects; plan, develop, and implement learning solutions; keep stakeholders engaged and informed.
Develop and deploy comprehensive communication, reinforcement, and support plans.
Track program participant progress and metrics to measure results and continually enhance offerings.
Prepare and present project status and results to management or appropriate individuals.
Provide consulting, development, project, and/or delivery support for regional or national meetings.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Strong knowledge of learning design, instructional methods, and training techniques, including curriculum design principles, adult learning, and blended learning theory and strategies.
Proficiency in learning technologies, including Learning & Content Management Systems, eLearning tools, mobile-enabled learning, and virtual training platforms (WebEx, Microsoft Teams, etc.) required.
Experience with content development tools, especially Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise, Peak, Studio, Replay) required. Proficiency in creating and editing multimedia content, including videos, animations, and interactive presentations.
Familiarity with software such as Camtasia, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and other multimedia tools required.
Solid knowledge of the organization's products, processes, and procedures. Ability to translate strategic goals into training and development program materials.
Highly collaborative and comfortable navigating organizational dynamics.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proven analytical and project management skills. Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in related field, or equivalent with professional designation preferred.
Typically a minimum of 8 years educational design/development and training experience. Insurance industry and subject matter knowledge preferred.

I n certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia , California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois , Maryland , Massachusetts , New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $72,000 to $141,000 annually.Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
