The Opportunity

Our Diversity, Talent and Training team in Human Resources is looking to add Training Strategists to contribute as value-adding members of the Training Centre of Expertise.   

We are seeking experienced Training Strategist with knowledge and expertise in implementing end-to-end scalable and sustainable training solutions. This role, will collaborate and partner across business units and functions, ensuring maximum value of buy or build training solutions.  The ideal candidate will have advanced diagnostic skills, in-depth knowledge of training needs assessments, methodologies, evaluation criteria, and technologies, along with strong communication and business partnering capabilities.

What you’ll do

  • Ensure a consistent and effective training experience for employees through collaboration with business areas, training developers (including external vendors), the Learning Management System team, governance analysts and other training strategists
  • Partner and develop in-depth awareness of the needs and goals of the business and translate those needs into training requirements
  • Validate and streamline training needs aligned with other business initiatives, leveraging existing training and/or other strategists as appropriate
  • Drive effective and efficient training solutions through adherence to training standards, including redirecting non-training needs, and making buy/build decisions
  • Monitor the effectiveness of training solutions and adjust as appropriate
  • Support business units in the creation and maintenance of effective training profiles aligning training solutions with defined need
  • Project manage multiple internal and external training development projects with varying timelines and deliverables; ensure these are completed on time, on target, and on budget
  • Coordinate and facilitate ongoing meetings with developers and LMS team to manage and monitor project status

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in a learning role as a designer, consultant, partner or strategist within a corporate environment
  • Proven experience in training needs assessment and adult learning principles
  • 3+ years’ experience in the Energy/Utility industry or similar technical environment 
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence
    • Proven track record in problem solving, project management, and implementation of learning solutions
    • Proficient organizational skills to manage multiple projects at once
  • Adaptable and flexible in response to shifting priorities or demands

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with various learning systems and enablement technologies such as SuccessFactors, Workday Learning
  • Understanding of and experience using evaluation models
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing customer insights and secondary research to inform organizational decision making of applicable solutions
  • Application of critical and systems thinking to propose solutions

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (estimated up 25% of work schedule)
