About the role
Nordic Insurance is the company that carries out the work on behalf of the Facility Association; the association provides auto insurance to customers that do not meet the criteria of the regular auto insurance market. Nordic Insurance contributes to Intact Insurance’s profits through fees collected via the Facility Association.
We're looking for an Underwriting Assistant, Commercial Lines, Nordic, to join our growing team!
We are hiring both permanent or 12 month secondment/contract positions as a Underwriting Assistant, Commercial Lines, Nordic, your work will have a big impact on our Facility Insurance department. People will count on you to support the underwriters, in order to contribute to a profitable portfolio of business. This position requires a minimum of 2 days in the Calgary or Edmonton office.
What you'll do here:

Handle insurance policy endorsements and cancellations.

Prepare new business files and input into our systems

Answer inquiries from brokers promptly and professionally

Support Underwriters through collaboration, problem solving and investigation

Support brokers via phone queue regarding underwriting and rating policies.

Work closely to develop and maintain positive business partnerships with brokers and co-workers.

Adhere to service level agreements (SLAs) defined by the Facility Association and take appropriate action to maintain consistently high-quality service

Process policies in accordance with established company guidelines, applicable laws and regulations, and subject to authorized limits. This includes reviewing supporting claim reports, applying standard rates or premiums etc.

Use the computer system for policy inquiry, electronic filing, underwriting and rating transactions.

Make recommendations to improve the department and increase its efficiency.

Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table:

Minimum of one year of office experience, preferably in the insurance field
-
Strong customer service and relationship building skills through excellent communication skills both written and verbal
-
Adaptable and flexible with the ability to prioritize work and highly organized to manage workflow efficiently without continuous supervision

Takes initiative, ability to problem solve and deliver high quality work with strong attention to detail
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office products and computer tools and the ability to navigate through multiple computer systems and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Excellent collaboration skills and win as a team attitude

No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
