Job Description

Position Summary

The Web Developer reports to the IT Manager and is integral to the efficiencies and improvements of the MPCN Website. This role is responsible for development and timely delivery of the best solutions for MPCN while following the established process, best practices and standards for SharePoint. The right candidate will participate in stakeholder meetings to discuss improvements on the design, functionality and content and will be responsible for ensuring efficient and high quality software deliverables while proactively foreseeing and raising technical impediments.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes system design and develop coding strategy/configuration

• Works with stakeholders, communications and the IT team to build and refine website workflow, functionality and content

• Develops web-based applications using SharePoint technologies and ASP.Net

• Works closely with development staff to provide advice and support to properly implement development efforts as well as Intranet and Internet-facing public web site

• Documents solutions, including program logic, procedures, implementation/deployment instructions and technical recovery plans and ensures transition to functional support

• Determines appropriate architecture, and other technical solutions, and makes relevant recommendations 

• Supports existing infrastructure

• Assists organizing website content

• Uses web development software to integrate databases and other information systems

• Confers with the stakeholders to discuss ideas for the layout, content, and organization of the site

• Tests applications on various browsers and modifies if necessary

• Adds functionality and content such as animations, surveys and forms to the website

• Performs system administrative activities such as site creation, user training, and issue resolution

• Communicates to the IT Manager with efficiency and accuracy any progress and/or delays. Engages in outside-the-box thinking

• Alerts colleagues to emerging technologies or applications and the opportunities to integrate them into operations and activities  

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• BS in computer science or a related field, or significant equivalent experience

• Alternatively, an appropriate combination of education and experience may be considered

• Microsoft SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint Designer 2013

• Microsoft.NET

• Healthcare experience is an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Exceptional customer service skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills

• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, SSL, Active Directory, Kerberos, and certificates

• Strong understanding of Microsoft SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint Designer 2013 (experience required)

• Knowledge of the phases of systems development and testing and considers the business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment

• Experience working with web programming languages and frameworks including C#, ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX and third party controls

• Experience in developing web-based applications using SharePoint technologies

• Strong understanding of programming methodologies and best practices

• Extensive knowledge of MS Visual Studio, SharePoint Designer, and MS SQL Server

• Experience integrating SharePoint with other enterprise systems

• Experience creating and modifying SharePoint site collections with multiple sites, unique navigational elements, custom content types and site columns, site pages, web part pages, and workflows

• Knowledge of relational database systems such as MSSQL or Oracle

• Development experience using extensible web authoring tools

• Must be a self-starter who is able to come up with business process, design ideas and technically implement the solution.

• Strong understanding of .NET technology

• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
