Job Description

Western Canada Growth Lead - Transportation

AECOM's Transportation Division is looking for a visionary and energetic Growth Leader to spearhead growth and strategic initiatives in Western Canada’s transportation sector. Reporting to the Regional Business Line Leader for Transportation in Canada, this position is based in any AECOM office in Western Canada. AECOM provides professional planning, design, and construction administration services in the areas of Highway/Bridge, Ports, Rail, Transportation and Facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Operations Managers and other Growth Leaders in Western Canada to drive growth and foster a unified, high-performing business development team.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies and plans to expand AECOM's reach within all transportation sectors, including transit, freight rail, highways, bridges, ports and marine and aviation.
  • Identify and anticipate market trends and opportunities, helping to position AECOM as an industry leader.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders, ensuring AECOM’s visibility and reputation.
  • Act as an ambassador for AECOM, representing the firm as a leader in the transportation sector.
  • Lead major pursuits and capture plans in alignment with the division’s business development strategies.
  • Leverage technical expertise across the organization to support successful project pursuits and seamless project delivery.
  • Secure favorable contract terms and manage financial targets, contributing to AECOM's strategic goals.
  • Identify and mitigate risks throughout the pursuit process to ensure smooth project transitions.
  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and address any service-related issues proactively.
  • Manage and develop geographically dispersed team members in alignment with AECOM’s core values and performance standards.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and positivity within the team.
  • Embed AECOM’s Sustainable Legacies, Safety, and Ethics & Compliance programs into the team culture.
  • Oversee business development budgets and align priorities with current and emerging market trends.
  • Collaborate with technical and regional leaders to drive growth strategies and make strategic technical hires.
  • Track key performance indicators such as pipeline health, sales, bookings, backlog growth, and client satisfaction, ensuring continuous improvement.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in the transportation industry (rail, highways, bridges, etc.)
  • 2+ years leadership experience
  • 8+ years of experience in developing and implementing transportation projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 20+ years of progressive experience in the Western Canada transportation industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Western Canadian transportation market.
  • Experience in bidding large projects (>$10 million fee or $200M CapEx).
  • Exceptional client service and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proven success in client development and strategic relationship building.
  • Strong track record in business development.
  • Ability to identify and develop strategies for other transportation-related markets.
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced, complex work environment.
  • Effective verbal communication skills, with the ability to make presentations and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong leadership presence, capable of becoming a trusted advisor and advocate for AECOM’s core values, earning client confidence.
