Support and maintain GE EMS and related real-time control room systems (Habitat, SCADA). Assist EMS Engineers with system configuration, software upgrades, testing, code reviews, incident troubleshooting, CIP-compliant deployments, and requirements gathering for projects. Provide operational support to the control room and help develop documentation, procedures, and reliability analyses for the Bulk Electric System.

Manage and lead a team delivering customer access studies and interconnection engineering assessments for generation, load, storage, and transmission projects. Provide technical oversight, quality assurance, stakeholder engagement, resource prioritization, and strategic advice to senior leadership. Coach and develop engineers, improve study practices and tools, and represent AESO in industry and regulatory forums to enable reliable grid access.

Lead and perform customer access and interconnection engineering studies for assigned clusters; provide technical leadership, peer review, and decision support; run power flow, stability, and short-circuit studies (PSS/E); coordinate cross-functionally and with external stakeholders; develop engineering solutions, standards, and connection proposals; mentor staff and represent AESO in regulatory and industry forums.

Support and expand grid analytics by developing probabilistic engineering and market studies, building congestion and nodal market models, designing analytic tools, and delivering forecasting, visualization, and actionable insights to inform transmission system planning and operations.

Lead and perform risk-based IT and business internal audits in conformance with IIA Standards. Plan and execute audit engagements, assess governance, IT controls and compliance, perform root-cause analysis, report findings, and follow up on remediation. Conduct advisory assurance on implementations, support continuous improvement using automation, data analytics and AI, and maintain audit documentation and stakeholder relationships.

Maintain and support real-time power system applications (automatic generation control, state estimation, contingency analysis) within the EMS. Update EMS models for topology changes, troubleshoot and provide on-call support, contribute to upgrades and process improvements, ensure compliance with AESO rules, and participate in project planning and time estimation.

Operate Alberta's provincial power system from the AESO control room. Dispatch energy and ancillary services per ISO rules, schedule interconnections, monitor real-time contingency analysis, run load flow studies, log/report system events, collaborate with transmission and generation owners to maintain reliability, and complete a multi-year training program toward NERC System Operator Certification.

The Senior Market Design Analyst will engage stakeholders, assess market design alternatives, and communicate options to shape Alberta's electricity market while leveraging expertise in economics or engineering.
