The role contributes to the reliable operation and ongoing evolution of Alberta’s electricity market systems.

Supports implementation and ongoing operation of Enspire electricity-market applications. Responsibilities include requirements gathering, application development, SQL and database work, Agile backlog management, testing, issue resolution, vendor documentation review, stakeholder alignment, deployment readiness, and lifecycle support. The role develops cloud-based solutions using JavaScript, Python, Azure, APIs, containers, and related technologies while contributing to large-scale system modernization and product delivery.

Support fair and consistent application of the ISO tariff for electricity connection projects. Review project cost allocations, process waiver requests, analyze customer data, prepare reporting and reassessments, implement tariff changes, design internal processes, and collaborate with internal teams. The role requires understanding complex concepts, managing variable case-by-case work, and supporting tariff-related deliverables within Alberta’s electricity system.

Support redesign of Alberta’s ISO tariff by researching rate design, developing recommendations, preparing regulatory applications, and advancing tariff changes through Alberta Utilities Commission approvals. The role analyzes trade-offs, communicates complex tariff concepts, collaborates with internal teams, and applies project planning, risk mitigation, and influence skills to deliver tariff initiatives.

Lead and perform customer access and interconnection engineering studies for assigned clusters; provide technical leadership, peer review, and decision support; run power flow, stability, and short-circuit studies (PSS/E); coordinate cross-functionally and with external stakeholders; develop engineering solutions, standards, and connection proposals; mentor staff and represent AESO in regulatory and industry forums.
