Alberta Energy Regulator

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is Alberta’s single regulator for energy development, overseeing the sector from application and exploration through construction, operations, decommissioning, closure, and reclamation. Its mandate is to support efficient, safe, orderly, and environmentally responsible development of the province’s energy and mineral resources, while allocating and conserving water, managing public lands, protecting the environment, and supporting responsible resource development.
