Design, implement, and troubleshoot experiments involving laser-based optical measurements, optics, optoelectronics, photodetectors, optical fibers, and photonic technologies. The role requires delivering functional systems outside the laboratory, understanding signal and noise sources, inventing experimental tools and processes, and working onsite in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Coordinate human-subject recording sessions, including participant preparation, sensor setup, calibration, stimulus delivery, signal monitoring, and documentation. Perform daily system quality control, manage recruitment and scheduling, maintain consent and participant records, develop SOPs, and conduct first-pass data operations using Python. Collaborate with program leadership to refine acquisition protocols and improve system performance.

Lead end-to-end product design for web and mobile: invent interaction paradigms, prototype in Figma and code, iterate with engineering and research, use research and analytics to improve user experience, and ship polished product surfaces.

Lead development of ML components for medical image reconstruction: define training/evaluation pipelines and metrics, productionize models (inference performance, monitoring, safe fallbacks), collaborate on hybrid physics-ML algorithms, and build tooling for experimentation and rigorous verification.

Lead architecture and core runtime foundations for a distributed scanner platform, driving reliability, observability, performance, and engineering rigor while collaborating with hardware and ML teams and mentoring engineers.

Lead execution of major product initiatives for AI-first, precedent-free products. Collaborate with design, engineering, and research; write product requirements, manage backlogs, run standups, conduct user research, prototype with Claude Code, and drive projects from ideation to launch.

Lead and grow Midjourney's product design team while actively designing and prototyping. Partner with the Chief Design Officer, engineering, and research to create coherent, intuitive AI-driven product experiences, run design reviews, recruit and mentor designers, and establish team operating rhythms.

Design and implement secure, resumable cloud pipelines to ingest multi-terabyte medical imaging data; build GPU-accelerated orchestration with strong retry semantics and cost controls; define data lifecycle and retention; implement HIPAA/PHI security and compliance controls; and deliver operational tooling (monitoring, alerting, runbooks) for a device fleet.

Design and deliver web products from concept through launch, collaborating with design and engineering. Focus on details—typography, layout, motion, responsiveness, loading states—and prototype rapidly using Figma and AI/code tools. Contribute visual assets for marketing and ship production-ready pages, working hands-on with HTML/CSS when needed. Portfolio required.
