Leads commercial small-business underwriting, including policy evaluation, selection, negotiation, documentation, and pricing. Coaches and develops underwriting staff, manages operational change, and maintains broker and customer relationships through ongoing communication and meetings. Collaborates with Actuarial and Claims teams while providing technical and operational leadership. This is a nine-month contract role with a hybrid work model.

Build and maintain relationships with commercial business clients, understand their insurance needs, recommend appropriate coverage, and achieve sales goals. The trainee receives comprehensive sales training, educational support, and assistance obtaining required provincial insurance licenses. The role is primarily field and remote, with occasional office work and flexible scheduling.

Leads commercial corporate underwriting across Programs, Specialty Lines, and Accident & Health portfolios. Provides technical guidance on complex risks, develops underwriting guidelines and products, analyzes portfolio performance and trends, supports governance and regulatory compliance, and drives process improvements. Partners with Claims, Actuarial, Reinsurance, Risk Services, IT, and Operations teams while leading, coaching, and mentoring underwriting professionals to achieve profitable growth and strong underwriting quality.
