About the role

We’re looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our growing team!

What you’ll do here:

  • Manage monthly, quarterly and year-end internal reporting by working closely with various departments, including other finance teams
  • Prepare underwriting results and expense forecasts
  • Analyze underwriting results in close cooperation with the actuarial team
  • Support our various business units in tracking their workflow
  • Participate in initiatives to improve financial systems and accounting processes
  • Participate in the budget process for underwriting results and operating expenses
  • Think critically about the controls in place and the various accounting treatments related to our operations
  • Make recommendations and suggestions to management based on your expertise
  • Simplify, standardize and improve controls of different work files

What you bring to the table:

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • At least three to five years of relevant experience in accounting, IFRS accounting standards and finance
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry
  • Fast learning, agility and adaptability to change
  • Discipline, autonomy and professionalism
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization, including management and external stakeholders
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country
