Who we are:

Canaccord Genuity (CG) is a leading independent full-service financial services firm, with operations in two principal segments of the securities industry:  wealth management and capital markets.  CG is driven by an unwavering commitment to building lasting client relationships – we achieve this by generating value for our individual, institutional, and corporate clients through comprehensive investment solutions, brokerage, and investment banking services.  We are the leading independent wealth management firm in Canada, and the leading mid-market provider of investment banking advisory, equity research, sales and trading services for corporations and institutions.

We pride ourselves on understanding our clients’ needs and finding innovative, tailored solutions.  Our entrepreneurial and friendly team will challenge you to learn and grow every day.  We value great work and collaboration and strive to eliminate bureaucratic thinking.  We’re looking for talented people who thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to have an impact with innovative ideas and best practices.

Come be a part of our Canadian success story and help deliver superior experiences for our clients. At CG, we recognize that diversity across our business strengthens our client relationships and enables more innovative solutions. We strongly encourage applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability status. CG provides an accessible candidate experience. If you need any accommodations throughout the interview process and beyond, please let us know.

Overview: Muhs Wealth Partners is looking to grow and bring on an Associate who will be an active partner in that growth. We are a financial planning focused practice where all clients are engaged in the financial planning process. Investment implementation is done through passive evidence-based strategies. The ideal applicant is either someone relatively new to the industry who has, or is relatively close to completing the requirements to become licensed in the securities industry, or someone experienced, with a book of clients, whose philosophies align with ours. This role is unlike a typical Investment Advisor or “Broker” type role, but ideal for someone who already has financial planning credentials (QAFP or CFP) or can start the process of attaining them soon. After a successful first 90 days, and once licensed, the new Wealth Associate will be directly responsible for managing the full relationship with 20-50 small households, while collaborating on others. The successful applicant is also someone who can take an active role in marketing efforts, including digital content creation such as podcasts, blogs, and videos.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate in the development and delivery of holistic financial plans across seven key areas: cash flow, wealth management, risk management, tax planning, estate planning, philanthropy, and value-added services;
  • Participate in client meetings and contribute to the discovery, planning, and implementation process;
  • Prepare financial planning documents, investment proposals, and follow-up communications;
  • Assist in managing client relationships and ensuring a high standard of service and responsiveness;
  • Engage in continuous learning and development, including pursuing relevant designations (QAFP, CFP, Portfolio Manager);
  • Support business development activities and contribute to the growth of the practice.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in financial services, preferably in a senior associate or wealth advisor capacity with experience in planning and/or advice capacity would be considered an asset;
  • Life insurance licensing would be an asset and a vector to additional commission compensation;
  • CIRO Licensed as a Registered Representative or completion of necessary coursework/examination in order to become licensed ASAP;
  • Strong interest in becoming a Financial Planner and working in an advice-based role;
  • Progress toward or completion of financial planning designations (CFP or QAFP) is an asset;
  • Excellent communication skills and a client-first mindset;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and learn from senior professionals;
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Conquest, Envestnet, or a “digital native” with a strong aptitude to learn new software would be considered an asset.

What you need to know about the Calgary Tech Scene

Employees can spend up to one-third of their life at work, so choosing the right company is crucial, not just for the job itself but for the company culture as well. While startups often offer dynamic culture and growth opportunities, large corporations provide benefits like career development and networking, especially appealing to recent graduates. Fortunately, Calgary stands out as a hub for both, recognized as one of Startup Genome's Top 100 Emerging Ecosystems, while also playing host to a number of multinational enterprises. In Calgary, job seekers can find a wide range of opportunities.
