Business Development Representative (BDR)

Location: Canada
Department: Sales
Reports To: Manager, Business Development

About Premier Construction Software

Premier Construction Software is an industry leader in end-to-end construction ERP solutions designed to simplify job costing, accounting, and project management in one powerful platform. We empower contractors, developers, and construction firms to streamline operations, improve decision-making, and boost profitability. With a growing footprint across North America, Australia, and the UAE Premier is continuing to invest in the people transforming the construction technology landscape.

Role Overview

The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for creating pipeline for the Account Executives by identifying and engaging with construction companies that could benefit from Premier. This is a front-line role focused on high-quality conversations with owners, finance leaders, and operations leaders in construction.

Key Responsibilities
• Prospect into target accounts (GCs, developers and subcontractors) through a mix of outbound calls, emails, social, and event follow-up.
• Quickly research and understand each account's structure, projects, and tech stack to personalize outreach.
• Run consultative, question-led conversations to uncover business pain around job costing, WIP, billing, and fragmented systems.
• Qualify prospects against our ICP and scheduling criteria, then book high-quality meetings for Account Executives.
• Consistently achieve daily and weekly activity targets for calls, emails, social touches, and meetings set.
Maintain clean, accurate records of activities, contacts, and opportunities in the CRM and sales engagement tools.
• Support trade show and event efforts: pre-book meetings, work the floor, and execute disciplined post-event follow-up.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Sales on messaging, sequences, and campaigns that resonate with construction finance and operations personas.
• Provide structured feedback from conversations to help refine positioning, competitive intel, and product insights.
• Stay current on Premier’s product capabilities, competitive landscape, and construction finance workflows to speak credibly with prospects.

What Success Looks Like
• Consistently meeting or exceeding monthly and quarterly targets for:
   o Demonstrations booked
   o Demonstrations completed
• High meeting quality as reflected by AE feedback and opportunity progression (opportunities created, stage movement, and win rates).
• Clean, reliable activity and pipeline data in the CRM and dashboards.
• Recognized internally as a knowledgeable, credible voice when speaking with construction professionals.
• Progression readiness for promotion into an AE or other revenue role within Premier.

Required Skills & Experience
• 1–3 years of experience in a BDR/SDR, inside sales, or similar customer-facing role (SaaS or B2B preferred).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable speaking with executives and field-oriented leaders.
• Ability to run consultative, question-led conversations rather than scripted pitches.
• High activity, high ownership mindset: proactive in managing your book of business and calendar.
• Comfortable working in CRM (e.g. HubSpot) sequencing/engagement tools (e.g. Amplemarket), and sales tech stack.
• Strong organization and time management skills to balance outbound volume, follow-ups, and meeting prep.
• Curiosity about construction, job costing, and how financial/operational workflows really work on projects.
• Ability to work remotely across North American time zones and collaborate effectively via tools like Teams and email.

Nice-to-Have
• Experience selling to construction, real estate development, or related industries.
• Prior exposure to ERP, accounting, or project management software.
• Experience prospecting into mid-market and enterprise accounts across North America.
• Familiarity with data and research tools such as ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and intent/data enrichment platforms.
• Experience working in a high-growth SaaS environment with defined SDR/BDR processes.
• Willingness to travel for industry conferences and team events.

Personal Attributes
• Coachable, open to feedback, and eager to improve.
• Resilient and persistent in the face of objections and slow cycles; energized by outbound prospecting.
• Structured and organized, able to manage many accounts and touchpoints at once.
• Team-oriented and collaborative with other GTM functions (Sales, Marketing, CS).
• Competitive, results-driven, and motivated by hitting and exceeding targets.
• Curious, resourceful, and comfortable testing new messaging, channels, and sequences.

Compensation & Benefits
• Competitive base salary with variable compensation tied to meetings set and pipeline created.
• Comprehensive health and dental benefits package.
• Flexible, remote-friendly work environment within Canada.
• Learning and development support with a clear path to AE or other growth roles.
• Paid time off and company holidays.
