About this opportunity:
The Data and IT Business Office is seeking a driven Business Office Advisor to support and manage the Data & IT (D&IT) budget lifecycle. This role is responsible for delivering monthly and quarterly financial reporting and analysis, providing executive leadership with clear visibility into spending patterns and value drivers. The Advisor will play a key role in strengthening budget governance, cost control, and overall financial visibility across D&IT.
What you’ll do:
Support monthly forecasting, outlooks, budgeting cycles, and ongoing financial reporting activities
Track budget compliance by reviewing unplanned spend requests, obtaining required approvals, and assessing impacts on future-year budgets
Reconcile monthly SAP actuals against budget and forecast, including variance analysis, accruals, and supporting documentation, and deliver clear, executive-level insights
Contribute to monthly, annual, and multi‑year Corporate Planning budgeting and forecasting processes for the IT organization, including reconciliations and variance analysis
Interpret and communicate complex financial and business results to diverse stakeholder groups
Partner across the organization to identify variances and support the implementation of corrective actions
Collaborate closely with the IT Portfolio team to enable effective project financial oversight and governance
Prepare management reporting packages, dashboards, and detailed variance analyses
Maintain G&A cost center master data to ensure accurate and consistent financial reporting
Provide data-driven insights and ad hoc financial analysis to support leadership decision‑making
Coordinate with Corporate Accounting on journals, prepaids, accruals, and month‑end close activities
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legal authority to work in Canada
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of relevant business budgeting experience, preferably within the oil and gas industry
Solid understanding of IFRS and core accounting principles
CPA designation completed or near completion
Strong proficiency in SAP
Advanced skills in PowerPoint, Power BI, and financial data analysis tools
Proven analytical, organizational, and time management capabilities, with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights and meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
