THE ROLE:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Capital Accountant to join our Financial Reporting team in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting, you will be responsible to prepare PETRONAS Canada’s end-to-end capital and asset accounting. This includes accounting and reporting activities. You will work collaboratively across financial and operational functions.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

Generate accurate and timely recording of capital transactions, including month-end accruals, material transfers, and manual adjusting journal entries

Gather, interpret, and synthesize capital data and information

Analyze results, identify patterns, and prepare reporting packages to management

Develop a detailed understanding of and improve the current capital accounting processes, analysis and reporting for internal and external customers

Collaborate with business stakeholders in the areas of, but not limited to, capitalization decisions, project cost tracking, accruals, budgeting, and monthly capital re-forecast processes

Stay informed on emerging practices and trends impacting activities through relevant training sessions, industry association events and publications
WHAT YOU BRING:

Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Finance
-
CPA professional designation
-
More than three years of relevant experience within the oil and gas industry

Proficiency with SAP S/4Hanna, Analysis for Office, PowerBI, and Excel are considered assets

Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with all levels in the organization

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail

Flexibility to meet the demands of an international company

Familiarity with financial reporting requirements for property, plant, and equipment
